The principle of operation is very simple. The meter is lowered into the test fluid. A deeper immersion of the meter in a substance is characteristic of liquids with a lower density. This is taken into account when applying the scale to the handset. The upper part of the scale shows lower values, and the lower - large. The density value is determined visually. In this case, the readings look at the lower meniscus.

The AON-1 hydrometer is small in size and light. Its length is not more than 170 millimeters with a tube diameter of 20 millimeters. The diameter of the rod is 4 millimeters. The scale is plotted almost a quarter of the length of the entire meter. Its length is 44 mm.
