Firstly, you need to choose a suitable place - there should be enough sun, and the soil should be light and, which is extremely important, permeable, so that there is no stagnation of moisture. Finally, a suitable corner in the garden is found. Now it is necessary to create the necessary conditions - to make a deep digging and, if necessary, to add lime to the soil, since hyacinths do not like acidic conditions. A month before the onset of pore, when hyacinth is planted (and this is the end of summer), phosphorus-potassium mineral fertilizers must be applied. Once again, this will need to be done a little later, but already with nitrogen fertilizing.
So, when is hyacinth best planted ? This is done in the fall, usually at the end of September, when the soil temperature is 6-10 degrees. Depending on the size of the bulbs, the distance between them should be on average 15-20 cm, and the depth - 12-15. When planting in a hole, peat and compost should also be added. It is better to take medium-sized bulbs, but large ones can be left for home cultivation.
It may also seem that hyacinths in an apartment are difficult to care for. This is not entirely true, although gardeners who intend to grow their houses not as annuals will have to work hard. The fact is that it will be necessary to imitate the natural conditions during the wintering of the bulbs. On an open balcony, for example, it is much easier to do, but you can do without it. In order to get bloom at a certain moment (New Year, March 8, birthday, etc.), you need to know when to plant hyacinth. It is better to focus on the recommendations of specialists. With standard distillation, from the moment of disembarkation to the appearance of flowers, about 2.5 months pass.
The dishes should be fairly tight for the bulbs, however, they should not be in contact with the walls of the pot. Good drainage should be provided. Bulbs do not need to be deepened, 2-3 centimeters should remain above the ground. After planting, you need to moisten the soil, pour a small layer of sand on top, put the pots in a plastic bag, making holes in it, and put it away for 6-10 weeks in a rather cold (5-7 degrees) and darkened room, for example, in a refrigerator. The main thing is to correctly calculate the time when to plant hyacinth in order to coincide with flowering to some kind of celebration, for example, to an anniversary.
After the appearance of shoots 2-2.5 cm long, the flowers should be transferred to warmer conditions - 10-12 degrees. There should not be too much light either. A few days later, you can put the pots on the windowsill. The following conditions will be ideal: 15-20 degrees, without drafts and direct light. During this period, you can begin to fertilize the plants, they should also be watered regularly, but it is important not to overdo it.
After flowering, the bulb should be removed from the pot and dried. After that, the best solution is to plant it in the garden, as repeated distillation greatly weakens the plant. Caring for hyacinths is not so difficult. But they will be able to please their early flowering and bright color after a cold winter.
