Tilda dolls - what is it?

Now you can find a lot of workshops on how to sew a tilde-style doll . But not everyone knows what kind of toys they are. We invite you to find out what tilde is. Patterns and a master class on sewing are included.

Who are tilde dolls?

These are such cute toys. The fashion for them was created by the Norwegian needlewoman Tone Finger. She released a book on whose pages patterns were offered. A full-size tilda was depicted in beautiful interiors. As a result, needlewomen from around the world took out a beautiful fabric and rushed to their sewing machines to sew an interesting doll.

Tilda toys are dolls with unusual shapes, bunnies, cats, deer, dogs, bears and mice, angels and much more. Their feature consists in several points:

• eyes are made with black dots (most often these are French knots) ;
• a blush is necessarily present on the cheeks;
• fabrics - natural and bright colors;
• size is small.

It is worth noting that the tilda doll is more of a very interesting subject of interior decoration than a toy in the traditional sense. Therefore, it is customary to give such crafts to adults rather than children.

What materials and tools are used when sewing tildes?

Tilda doll is a toy made from natural materials. Most often, linen or cotton is used. But wool, calico, fleece or flannel will do. The same material is taken for sewing doll clothes.

As a filler, needlewomen love to use holofiber or synthetic winterizer. The toy can also be stuffed with small pieces of another fabric.

Various lace, beads, buttons and other cute details are used as decor.

Of the tools you need only scissors, needles, threads, full-size tilde patterns. The doll can also be made using a sewing machine. But most often they are sewn by hand.

Real tilda doll

Sewing master class:

1. Make a pattern and cut out all the details.
2. Then attach the pattern elements to the fabric and cut.
3. Sew the parts in pairs. As a result, you should get hands, legs, head and body, wings.
4. Place the filler inside the toy parts. Since the toy is small, the sintepon needs to be stuffed with a wooden stick.
5. Sew together all the elements.
6. In order for the hands and legs to bend well in the doll, you need to sew them with small stitches in the middle. Around where the person’s elbow and knee joints are located.
7. Sew an outfit angel. It consists of a set of shirts and pants, as well as a dress that is worn on top.
8. Take a skein of thread for knitting and make them his hair. You can loose, but you can collect the braid.
9. Dress the doll. Sew clothing on the sides so that it does not hang.
10. Embroider your face and make a blush.
11. Sew the wings.

Tilda Bunny

Animals can also be made in the style of a tilde doll.

Master class on creating a cute bunny:

1. Make a pattern and cut out the light fabric of the body of the bunny, its legs and long ears.
2. From the fabric with the pattern, cut out the details for the panties on the straps and hats.
3. Sew in pairs the details of the arms and legs, ears and body.
4. Fill the parts with filler.
5. Sew the ears and four paws to the body.
6. Sew shorts and two equally sized ribbons.
7. Make a hat with fields.
8. Embroider the nose, eyes and mouth on the face. And on each foot make fingers. To do this, embroider two large crosses side by side.
9. Put on the bunny pants and sew the straps. Joints can be decorated with buttons.
10. Put on a hat.

Cat tilda

It is very easy to make a cat in the style of a tilde with your own hands. Patterns for its creation very often consist of only three parts - legs, body and tail. Therefore, it is quite simple to cut out the details and transfer them to the fabric. If you want to make the cat's body monotonous, and the middle of the ear is made of fabric with a pattern or vice versa, then simply cut one ear from the pattern. When translating to fabric, be sure to indent.

When you already have two parts of the body, tail and forelegs, you can start sewing. If you do the ears separately, then you need two plain backs and colorful front ones. Stitch in pairs all the details together. Place inside each filler and sew in the holes. Sew paws and ponytail to the body. Embroider the muzzle and make the cheeks rosy.

To decorate a tilde cat somehow, make a bow, tie or some clothes.

Tilde Bears

Instructions on how to sew a tilde-style bear with your own hands:

1. Make a pattern of the toy and transfer it to the fabric.
2. As a result, you should get such details: two halves of the muzzle, one back of the head, two parts of the body, four ears, four legs and arms, as well as decorative patches in the shape of a heart, a rhombus and a rectangle. At will, ears of various shapes can be made (two types are presented on the pattern).
3. Sew ears in pairs.
4. Sew together the two halves of the muzzle, and then sew the back of the head. Insert the ears into the seam on top.
5. Stitch out the parts of the body.
6. Sew all four legs in pairs - two arms and two legs.
7. Sew the head and legs to the torso.
8. Sew decorative patches.
9. Embroider a triangle-shaped nose, eyes and mouth.

Bear is ready!

The most interesting thing is that if you slightly modify the pattern, you can sew a lot of different animals. For example, from the patterns proposed above, you can make not only bunnies, bears and cats, but also dogs, lambs, pigs and many other animals.
