Device and principle of operation
"Cedar" - a septic tank, which is a huge plastic cylinder, equipped with polypropylene pipes for supplying and discharging wastewater. The capacity consists of four functional chambers separated by special partitions interconnected by flow pipes.
Due to the inclined location of the sewer outlet pipe, drains from it by gravity enter the first chamber. There, during drainage, part of the waste settles to the bottom, and part in the form of a hard crust rises to the surface. The removal of accumulated sediment is recommended not more than once every two years. The settled effluents are fed into the second chamber with anaerobic bacteria, where deeper clarification takes place. After that, the water flows into the third compartment, made in the form of a removable biofilter. It is equipped with a special container in which aerobic-anaerobic microorganisms are loaded. The last, fourth chamber serves as a discharge point for treated effluents. At this point, you can install an additional drainage pump for water drainage.

Almost all such installations during operation are clogged with sediment, including Cedar. The septic tank should be periodically cleaned. Manufacturers recommend buying and using exclusively biological products that contribute to the speedy breakdown of accumulated waste. Especially for these purposes, Russian scientists have developed a special group of microorganisms designed to purify such systems. This biological product is a liquid containing microscopic granules whose size does not exceed 0.1 mm. Inside are valuable bacteria needed to cleanse the sewer. Once in the system, they begin to multiply actively, simultaneously modifying the waste. Some microorganisms die, yielding to destruction, therefore their stocks need to be replenished periodically. If necessary, this fluid can be safely preserved. If the effluent contains a large amount of chemicals, then for a good purification it is recommended to increase the concentration of bacteria.

This device is a fairly simple non-volatile station designed for the treatment of domestic wastewater. Consumers who have managed to evaluate an autonomous drainage installation, argue that its activity and resources are enough to fully service a whole family of five people. Unfortunately, the reviews about it are not so straightforward, because, despite all of the above advantages of this system, it cannot fully function in areas with a high level of groundwater. One of the prerequisites necessary to ensure the normal operation of the septic tank is the presence of a filter layer. The tank itself cleans drains by no more than 50%. Due to the vertical arrangement of the tank, the main volume of runoff is much lower than the depth of soil freezing. This eliminates the need to warm up the system, but at the same time significantly complicates the process of self-pumping the accumulated sediment. To extend the life of the pipes, it is recommended to periodically filter them.
