Years of adolescence

A year after the premiere, Chekhov becomes the owner of the Pushkin Prize. Fame is coming, and the circle of friends already includes famous artists and composers of the time. Chekhov begins to travel a lot: having visited Sakhalin, he makes a census and writes about the arbitrariness of local officials. After this trip, the author’s creative baggage was enriched with new works: “From Siberia”, “In exile”, “Sakhalin Island”, “Baba”, “Gusev”, “Story of an unknown person”.
Last moments
The year 1900 also becomes significant for the prose writer - Chekhov is admitted to the Academy of Sciences, which he leaves two years later, protesting against the exclusion of Gorky from it.
It is believed that after a significant trip to Sakhalin Island, Chekhov, whose brief biography is before us, fell ill with tuberculosis. The disease progresses, and in 1904 he goes to Germany for treatment. But European luminaries cannot cope with the disease. A classic of Russian literature dies July 15 of the same year. Buried A.P.
