Beautiful Campanella. The flower is moody, but very beautiful

A flower bed for many gardeners is truly a holy place. So I want to admire the colorful colors of flowers, enjoy their delicate aroma. That is why, with the advent of spring, gardeners begin to look for new varieties of plants that will become a real decoration of the garden. In fact, preparations begin already in the middle of winter, because you need to have time to plan the flower arrangement of a future flower bed, buy bags of seeds and plant them on seedlings.

If you want something unusual, but attractive, you should pay attention to such a plant as Campanella. The flower is quite rare for our latitudes, but still very popular among gardeners. This bell has a white, blue and pink colors. Some varieties are grown as decorative indoor plants, which in the summer perfectly decorate balconies and loggias, and in winter they go into hibernation. In the spring they come to life again and delight with abundant flowering.

Beautiful indoor flowers are, of course, good, but for gardeners more interesting are varieties that can be grown on the street. Campanella hails from southern countries, so it takes a long time to get used to our climate. To grow it is difficult, but possible. It is propagated by seeds, cuttings and dividing the bush, but initially, in order to get your own adult plant, you need to buy a bag of seeds. It is necessary to sow them in May in open ground, when the earth warms up well, you can also build a mini-greenhouse.

If the soil is too hard or acidic, it is necessary to add lime, river sand, sawdust, peat, Campanella is very fond of such a substrate. The flower has small seeds, so you need to make a shallow groove, about 0.5 cm. They are sown very densely, because they have poor germination. Young plants are transplanted to a permanent place together with an earthen lump so that the root system is not damaged . To do this, make a small hole, fill it with water to form a swamp, plant a flower and fill it well with earth.

Sunny, well-warmed places are what Campanella needs. The flower will not develop in partial shade. In the first year, the bush only strengthens; with the advent of frost, it is necessary to warm it, cover it with sawdust or dry leaves. In spring, you need to open the plant in time so that it does not rot. In the second year, Campanella can already throw a couple of buds, but it is better to cut them so as not to weaken the flower. Full bloom will be in its third year, it will begin in late spring and will continue until the end of summer. In one season, the bush can produce up to 30 buds.

Campanella can grow in one place for up to 10 years. The flower is very moody, so it is necessary to feed it three times a season with mineral fertilizers, water it, and protect it from weeds. If you need to propagate the bell, then you can collect the seeds, which are stored in boxes, formed after flowering, cut the cuttings or divide the adult bush. If the plant is too large, then it does not need to be dug up, because Campanella does not tolerate transplanting. It is better to cut off the necessary part with a shovel, and it is good to fill the old bush with earth and water it. Of course, the cultivation of this plant is very troublesome, but still all the worries will be compensated by the abundant flowering of luxurious curtains.
