The gaming industry is striking in its diversity. But, despite the great choice for gamers, every year dozens and even hundreds of new projects are born. Some of them are immediately forgotten, not satisfying the desire of gamers, others remain in their hearts for life, others become popular and gain their army of fans long before their release. So the new project from Blizzard can boast of its success. Great graphics, addictive gameplay or system requirements Overwatch subordinated the game to many gamers.
A little bit about the game
Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter game. The project was first presented in November 2014 at an exhibition organized by the manufacturer itself - Blizzard Entertainment. And, as noted earlier, it already has a large army of fans, despite the fact that it is still under development.
Like many studio products, the game won the hearts of many players in absentia. This did not happen due to prohibitively beautiful graphics, the use of innovative technologies in development or any other reason. It's all about freedom.
The project promises to provide gamers with a huge number of unique characters, each of which has its own unique skills, abilities and character. And this is now the main thing for the players. So even the high system requirements of Overwatch will not force fans and ordinary users to abandon playing it.
Game types
As the closed beta test showed, 5 main types of games are available in the project, but their number can always increase:
- Quick game - a network match with characters of the same level of development.
- Against AI - honing skills in the fight against artificial intelligence.
- Competitive mode - ranking competitions between different heroes.
- Own game is a closed game that allows you to gather a group of friends or to compete with bots alone.
There is also a special mode, which is available only once in seven days - a weekly brawl, which is a match with special conditions. To ensure the stable operation of the game rooms in 2015, Blizzard launched the PTA. Since then, the first Overwatch system requirements have become known.
What did the beta test say?
As representatives of Blizzard Entertainment explained, they themselves send invitations to closed testing for one reason only - to get an objective assessment from a narrow circle of players. This way you will be able to get truthful assessments and valuable advice.
However, since November 2015, the so-called stress testing has been carried out - opening game servers for a larger number of players in order to verify the stability of the network component of the project. The first such test was held in November 2015 at the next exhibition organized by the company.
As soon as the first users received an invitation to the CBT, the Overwatch system requirements instantly leaked to the network. It turns out that the game will run on computers running Windows 64-bit architecture. To start the project you will also need:
- Intel Core i3 processor, AMD Phenom X3 865 or better (preferably with a clock frequency of at least 2.8 GHz);
- graphics card with 768 MB or better from manufacturers of NVIDIA, Radeon or Intel HD Graphics ;
- the required amount of RAM is within 4 GB, and free space on the local disk will need no more than 5 GB.
But do not forget that Overwatch now has minimal system requirements, and much can change before it is released.
Game mechanics
Many gaming products have been immortalized in history through their fascinating gameplay. Obviously, Blizzard is not trying to win sympathy with only unique characters - they mainly focus on game mechanics.
The developers promise an exciting gameplay thanks to several game modes:
- Escort. A team game in which one side tries to escort the cargo to its destination when the other makes every effort to capture it.
- Capture points. The standard scheme of team confrontation in multiplayer computer games - one team must keep the points under control for a certain period, and their opponents must capture them.
- Object control. Players are divided into two groups, each of which is tasked to capture a certain area before the rival squad. The winners are those who earlier begin to control two key points.
And these are just the initial modes that will be available at the time of the release of Overwatch. The system requirements on the PC indicate that the game has not yet fully revealed its potential, and in the future we will expect a lot of innovations.
Or maybe it's Team Fortress?
Many players who are fortunate enough to become part of the PTA note that the game is remarkably similar to Team Fortress 2, Valve’s multiplayer shooter. In addition to common features, in the mechanics of the game there are similarities between the characters themselves.
These similarities are quite popular for discussion on the Internet. There were even several videos in which the voice acting of characters from Team Fortress 2 was inserted into the replicas of heroes from Blizzard. The result was a rather interesting symbiosis of these two platforms.
Overwatch, whose system requirements are different from all modern games, has little chance to disappoint the public. However, if in the end a project is presented that closely resembles a Valve project, then the result can be disastrous. But he will not stop real fans.
Popularity is growing
The popularity of the game can be confirmed by a relatively recent beta test. According to his results over the weekend in November, it was simulated hours in a total amount of 129 years, which simply indicates a huge number of players. However, the company did not disclose user activity.
Premature success decided to pick up the manufacturer of connected devices to the Razer computer. It is reported that there is close contact between the computer accessories manufacturer and Blizzard. So, soon after the release on the shelves we should expect to see keyboards, mice and other devices with unique game symbols.
But that’s not all, you can’t say that Overwatch manufacturers do not provide enough system requirements for PCs. In 2015, it was reported that the game would acquire a series of short animated films that tell the history of the world and further immerse fans in the gameplay.
