Sock-shaped hats have not gone out of fashion for several years, becoming during this time a part of the youth subculture. This simple and comfortable model is worn not only by boys and girls, but also by adults and kids. Today we have the opportunity to consider how a sock hat fits with specific examples.

Knitting this model is best knit seamless. To do this, we need circular knitting needles or hosiery (a set of 5 pieces) and 1 skein of yarn of your favorite shade. First we will knit a sample: 20 stitches x 10 rows. The size of the resulting fabric will allow you to determine the desired number of loops so that the cap-toe fits tightly on the head, but does not cause discomfort. As a rule, with an average density of knitting it is 120 loops.
Now that the loops are typed, we evenly distribute them into 4 knitting needles and begin work. The first 2-3 cm should be tied with an elastic band 2x2 or 1x1, then proceed to the main pattern. The optimal pattern for the cap will be the alternation of strips from the front and back rows, which allows the product to easily take any shape. We knit the first 5 rows on the wrong side, the next 5 rows - front loops. If you wish, you can make the strips wider or narrower, as well as knit with threads of different colors from two balls alternately. As soon as the hat reaches the desired length, we begin to remove the loops. To make the narrowing even and invisible, knit together 2 loops x 12 times in the first and last row of the wrong side. When there are 12 loops left on the knitting needles, remove them on a strong thread and tie a knot on the wrong side of the work. Our sock hat is ready, it must be washed or soaked and slightly stretched. A pompom, a brush can be sewn to the dried-up hat, and you can pick it up on the side with a decorative pin.
Crochet toe cap - easy!
Crocheted, the toe cap has a denser structure, so it is advisable to knit it with double crochet, more loose than a simple column. We start work with a chain of the desired length, closed in a ring. At the beginning of each row, do 2 lifting loops, then knit a row to the end with columns with a crochet or other loose pattern to your liking. A bright striped hat-toe cap looks very elegant. For such a product, the remains of threads of different shades, but the same composition and thickness, are suitable. We narrow the product by knotting 2 columns and closing them together, evenly reducing the width. When 3-5 loops remain, we cut the thread 10 cm long, pass it through the last loop so that the fabric does not open, and we tighten the loops from the wrong side with it. The end of the thread is fixed with two stitches, cut. It is advisable to wet the finished hat, to give it the desired shape.
Often, after knitting large or multi-colored patterns, knitters have tangles of yarn too small for bulky work.
