The prince makes a new law: citizens will have to pay for the sun, air and water. But the poor have no money to do this. The crowd that came to listen to the decree of the prince is outraged. And in the resulting crush, the prince step on his foot. Mistakenly accused of this old Chipollo. The father of the onion boy is imprisoned.
Cipollino decides to rescue his parent. His determination fuels the injustice that he sees around him. Together with his girlfriend Radishochka, the boy manages to find his father in the palace and release him.
The fugitives have to hide. Cipollino helped Radish and Dad hide. Unfortunately, the boy himself was caught by a guard. He was sent into custody for later execution. But in the village everyone knew what the name of the famous onion boy was, how selflessly he was ready to help everyone. Therefore, in difficult times, friends and acquaintances of Cipollino go to his aid.
Prince Lemon found out that Cipollino had escaped, too late. An enraged Lemon ordered a cannon to fire at the city. But that did not happen. Cipollino, along with friends, was shot from a cannon by Prince Lemon himself.
A new time has come when there were no terrible taxes and poverty. It is time to build a new world.
Cipollino - a revolutionary boy

Due to lack of funds, Rodari was unable to attend school with other children. He could only enter a theological seminary. Gianni hardly forced himself to study: classes seemed terribly boring to him. But it was in the seminary that he began to read a lot, study art and history. There he discovered a craving for writing. Thanks to his education, Rodari became a teacher and quickly earned the love of his students. His way of presenting the material was so simple and interesting that even in those guys who did not like to study, a thirst for knowledge woke up.
The war has begun. Gianni could not become a soldier, but the difficult events still did not pass over his family: his brother was sent to a concentration camp. Friends and relatives of the future writer were arrested and shot. He could not stand it and joined the Resistance Movement.
After the war, Rodari will write his famous fairy tale and a collection of poems. But they will also reflect in it those events that he experienced during the war years. Even in a relaxed, veiled form.
