How to sew a hat from fleece: a master class and a pattern

Fleece is a material from which it is very convenient to sew not only toys, but also things. They turn out soft and warm. We suggest you learn how to sew a hat from fleece (pattern, step-by-step master class and recommendations).

Building patterns

Before you sew anything, you need to build a pattern. It can be printed or drawn by yourself. A regular cap pattern consists of two elements: one domed and one rectangle.

So that the hat is not small or, conversely, large, you need to measure your head. You can also attach your other hat to a piece of paper and circle it around the outline. Then you need to correct the lines and make a pattern.

The domed part is the main part of the fleece cap, the rectangle is the trim of the cap.

We sew a hat

A detailed master class on how to sew a hat from fleece:

1. The pattern for such a headgear consists of two parts, as described above.
2. Buy two shades of fleece (for example, black and pink).
3. Attach the pattern to the fabric and cut out all the details, remembering to make small indents on all sides. As a result, you should get this amount: one rectangle of pink and black, four domed parts of pink and black. Remember that the pattern of the rectangles must be attached to the folded in half fabric. After all, its length is equal to half the circumference of the head.
4. Fold together two pieces of matching shades and sew them on one side.
5. You got two halves of black and pink.
6. Fold the pink halves together and sew them together on each side. Do not touch the bottom.
7. Repeat the same with the black halves.
8. Turn out the blanks of the caps.
9. Fold the ends of the black rectangle and sew them together.
10. Do the same with the pink rectangle.
11. Attach the black bezel of the rectangle to the bottom of the pink hat and sew them together.
12. Stitch together a black cap and a pink bezel.
13. Turn the two blanks to the front side.
14. Fold the hats together so that the seam of one bezel rests on the other. Stitch them together around the edge
15. Turn out a hat.
16. Fold one half of the cap into the other and tuck it.

Headpiece with ears

Such a cap made of fleece with ears will appeal not only to a child, but also to an adult.

Instructions on how to sew such a hat:

1. Cut out an eyelet pattern from paper (picture 1).
2. Pin it to a fleece folded in half, and cut four pieces of ears.
3. Reduce the eyelet pattern a little and cut two parts for the inside.
4. Sew together two parts of the eyelet and wash the middle (picture 2).
5. Make a cap pattern. In the picture above, the places where the ears will be are marked.
6. Cut fleece cap parts and sew them on the sides.
7. Then put the ears inside and sew them to the indicated places (picture 3).
8. Turn out a hat.

A fun fleece hat is ready!

Other options for children's hats

Instead of ears, you can make horns or spikes of a dragon. The pattern of caps remains exactly the same, only removable parts change.

To sew horns, draw an elongated triangle on paper with the top slightly raised. Cut four such details from a white fleece and sew them together in pairs. Then turn the horns and fill them with any filler (for example, sintepon, holofiber and so on). Sew the horns to the hat. To make the headdress look like a Viking helmet, use fleece brown or gray.

And in order to turn into a dinosaur or a dragon, sew a child a green cap and make spikes. To do this, cut out of the white fabric twelve triangles. Sew them in pairs and fill with synthetic winterizer or other filler. Place the spikes on the cap. They should divide it in half and resemble a mohawk. Alternatively, the spikes can not be sewn, but made on Velcro.

Hat with ear flaps

A hat made of such material can be fashionable, warm and beautiful at the same time.

And now a detailed description. How to sew a fleece hat:

1. Make a paper pattern of the hat and ears, attach it to the fabric folded in half, and circle (Figure 1).
2. Attach a cap pattern to a fleece of a different shade and circle too (Figure 2).
3. You should get two blue and white parts for the cap and four white for the ears (Figure 3).
4. Fold the two parts of the ears together and sew them together (Figure 4).
5. Expand the white part of the cap and lay the ears on top (see illustration 5).
6. Wrap the right and left quarter of the cap (Figure 6).
7. Sew the first stitch (Figure 7).
8. Fold the blue blank in the same way, without adding any ears, and sew it (Figures 8 and 9).
9. Put the blue blank on the white and stitch them together at the edges, leaving holes at the bottom of the “ears” (Figures 10 and 11).
10. Turn out a hat.
11. Inside the “ears”, place pieces of syntepon to warm them better (Figure 12).
12. Sew holes.

All is ready! You can sew Velcro on the edges of the “ears” so that they do not fly apart.
