Grapes of this variety were bred artificially by American breeders in 1998. Jupiter grapes came to Russia only at the beginning of this century. It was possible to develop this variety by crossing varieties of V. Labruska and V. Vinifer.

Jupiter is easy to distinguish from other grape varieties by external signs:

- bushes in the variety are medium-sized;

- the leaves are large, pale green;

- clusters of medium size and have a conical shape, most often with wings;

- Jupiter's berries, as already mentioned, are seedless and very large, with a rich purple color.

Fruitfulness

The Jupiter grape variety received only the best qualities from its ancestors. The berries of this variety are excellent - large (the average weight of one berry is about 5 grams), ellipsoid in shape and saturated unique color: pink-reddish at the beginning of ripening and lilac at the end. The peel of the berry is very thin, while strong and crisp. And the flesh is juicy, fleshy and has an unobtrusive sweet taste. The aroma and taste of the berry with light notes of muscat. Bunches of this variety of moderate friability. The weight of one is from 180 to 280 grams.

And although the Jupiter grape belongs to seedless, still rarely found in the crop berries with seeds.

This variety is one of the most fruitful, the number of shoots giving a full crop is more than 80%. The developed shoot gives two formed clusters, and fruitful - up to six. Vine ripening is approximately 96% of the shoot length. At the same time, you can harvest a good crop even in the driest or wettest years.

Sustainability

The root system of the Jupiter cultivar has high frost resistance: up to -27 Β°. But in the winter, the vines require shelter. The berries of this crop are resistant to cracking. The weather conditions are not afraid of them - the form and appearance will be preserved.

But Jupiter grapes have a medium resistance to a fungal disease and require special treatment.

Care

The Jupiter grape variety is very unpretentious, so it’s not difficult to take care of it.

Key recommendations:

- the bush needs to be formed in the form of a two-shouldered horizontal cordon;

- standard preventive spraying is required no more than two times;

- You also need to break off undeveloped shoots and crop fruit shoots by about 6-8 eyes;

- in winter, this variety requires shelter with agricultural tissue;

- Jupiter periodically needs to be fertilized with organic or mineral fertilizers. Manure is most suitable for this, but top dressing should be in liquid form.

Landing

Due to the fact that the survival rate of the variety is very high and Jupiter grows well together with the stock, you can plant it both by grafting and with your own seedlings.

If you decide to use root crops, the following scheme is suitable for this:

- it is necessary to dig a recess;

- without breaking the earthen lump of the seedling, drop it into the prepared hole;

- mulch with peat;

- the first three days after planting, abundant watering is required, then you can switch to moderate.
