Regulating fittings: types, parameters, purpose

Regulating fittings is a wide list of functional structures designed to distribute flows and shut off working fluid, regulate the parameters of individual technological processes. In particular, a change in the parameters of pressure, temperature, pressure, and the amount of supplied substances is carried out by changing the flow rate of the transported media. Control valves are mounted in piping systems, tanks and aggregates where distribution or shutdown of used or transportable media is required.

The main types of fittings

regulating fittings

  1. Regulating fittings - the main purpose is to regulate the specified parameters of the working environment. It includes all kinds of bypass valves, balancing and reducing nature.
  2. Shutoff valves - used to shut off flows when moving working media. Among the most common types of valves are: valves for shutting off fluid flows, ball valves, wedge-shaped valves, valves.

Elements of control valves

Regulating valves operate on the basis of the following elements:

  • control valves;
  • mixing valves;
  • control valves;
  • direct pressure regulators.

Appointment

control valves

Control valves are used to support the required, setpoints of certain technological processes due to the regulation of the flow rate of specific working environments.

According to the design, the control valves are practically indistinguishable from stop valves. In some systems, the same control valves can be used for their intended purpose and as a stop valve.

Varieties of control valves

adjustable fittings

  1. Photo-separation - is used when it is necessary to separate the working media, which are in different states.
  2. Condensation - is used to eliminate condensate, a limited pass or block the flow of superheated steam.
  3. Safety shut-off and control valves - is aimed at automatic protection of pipelines and equipment from unintended or unacceptable changes in the functioning of the pipeline system.
  4. Control - designed to control the flow of working media into measuring and control devices.
  5. Mixing and distributing - distributes individual flows of working media in various directions or takes direct part if mixing is necessary.
  6. Throttling - used when it is necessary to reduce the pressure of the working fluid in systems that operate in conditions of significant sharp pressure drops.
  7. Non-returnable - non-return valves in which forced opening, restriction or closing of the stroke is possible.

Features of choice

stop valves

Since in most cases efficiency and high stability of functioning of the entire pipeline system depend on the level of reliability and durability of valves, the most important point is its choice. The following points should be noted here:

  1. Adjustable fittings should be selected based on the determining operating conditions: the nature of the working medium, temperature, and pressure indicators in the system.
  2. Important when choosing control valves is the compliance of its characteristics with the nominal diameter of the passage.
  3. Before leaning towards the purchase of valves, it is necessary to clarify the method of its control: remote, manual, based on an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic drive.
  4. Initially, it is worth deciding on the case material: cast iron, corrosion-resistant steel, bronze, etc.
  5. Fittings are purchased depending on the purpose of the individual elements: adjustable or safety valve, valve, gate valve.
  6. Important are the geometric parameters that distinguish control valves: length, height, types of flanges, sizes and number of bolts, and the like.
  7. It is necessary to check in advance that the characteristics and parameters of the selected valve fit the specified requirements and the operating conditions of the pipeline system.
