Speaking about animals of Eurasia, it should be noted the fact that this continent includes an extremely vast territory. Therefore, the animal kingdom of Eurasia is very diverse. On its territory there are many geographical zones of the globe.
The largest belt is taiga. Here live such animals of Eurasia as brown bear and elk, wolverine and lynx, chipmunk and squirrel, fox and hare, wolf and elk, as well as a variety of small rodents. And this, of course, is not the whole list of animals living in the taiga.
Very large in the taiga and the world of birds. These are black grouse, and hazel grouse, and grouse, and crossbills, and crows, and tits. All the animals and birds listed above are also common in the flat taiga and in the mountainous regions of Europe and Asia.
Large mammals, both predators and herbivores, once inhabited the broad-leaved forests of the mainland. Most of them were destroyed, as they were of value to humans. Because of fur and meat, people actively hunted them. Today, the animals of Eurasia living in the forest zone, for the most part, are protected by law. These are brown bear and roe deer, bison and red deer, pine marten and wolverine, weasel and mink, wild cat and fox, hedgehog and elk, wild boar and wolf, white hare and brown hare, ferret and ermine.
But forests were felled, and lands plowed. And this fact has led to the spread of rodents, such as voles, shrews, ground squirrels, groundhogs, harmful to agriculture.
Of the birds, hazel grouse and black grouse, partridge and capercaillie, as well as a great many songbirds, also live in the forests. Blackbirds and orioles, warblers and warblers, nightingales and tits - all of them in large numbers inhabit the forest zone of the mainland.
It should be noted a wide variety of waterfowl. Also, swallows, sparrows, rooks, crows, pigeons, cuckoos, rooks, storks live near human habitation. Many birds are migratory. Therefore, at a strictly defined time, gathering in large flocks, geese and ducks, cranes and rooks, storks and swans fly to the south, and bullfinches fly to the north with the onset of heat.
And how diverse the underwater world is! In rivers and lakes of the middle lane there are pikes and crucians, carps and burbots, catfish and roach. Representatives of the salmon class are also not uncommon.
There, on the rivers, you can meet the muskrat, otter and the great toiler - beaver.
Speaking about the northern regions of Eurasia, which are part of the tundra zone, it can be noted that, despite the rather low temperature, a wide variety of animals live there. For the most part, these are predators that can eat fish. Due to the fact that the land is covered with snow most of the year, the plant world is extremely poor. Of the herbivores in the tundra, only reindeer are widely represented, having the ability to feed on moss, raking the hoofs of snow and finding it there.
Absolutely all animals of Eurasia, living in the north of the mainland, have a chic fur that protects them from the cold. And the color of the winter coats of these inhabitants is mostly white.
It should be noted such inhabitants of the tundra as a polar bear, arctic fox, northern fox, northern wolf, hare, lemmings, ermines, partridge, white owls, eiders and loons. Walruses and fur seals are found in the water.
An interesting fact is that lemmings, which are numerous in the tundra, are food for almost all the inhabitants of this climatic zone. Even the reindeer, being a herbivore, does not disdain to feast on this small rodent if it suddenly finds it.
Animals of Eurasia, living in the steppe and forest-steppe zone, are mostly herbivores. These are saigas, different breeds of wild horses, including a kulan and an almost extinct species - Przhevalsky's horse, roe deer.
Previously, huge herds of bison roamed the steppes. But they were also destroyed. Today, bison are rare animals of Eurasia, which, like Przewalskiโs horses, are listed in the Red Book and are under protection.
Steppe wolves and meadow coyotes hunt herbivores. Birds of prey are widely represented in this area, such as kestrel, steppe eagle, strep, vulture. These birds feed on small animals and birds, do not disdain rodents.
Rodents include hamsters and marmots, ground squirrels and jerboas, mouse voles and rats.
In the mountainous regions of Eurasia, mountain goats live - argali, yaks, kukumaman (mountain sheep), llamas, condors, snow leopards. A huge number of insects and birds completes the list of mountain inhabitants of one of the largest continents on Earth.
