Why is it needed and where is the smoke bomb used ? Everybody knows. Why you need it specifically is your own business, but I want to warn you that the manufacture of such pyrotechnics is an unsafe activity. Before embarking on it, one should clearly understand all the possible consequences (from the bad smell in the house to the fire) and take all possible security measures.
In this article, I will talk about how to make a smoke bomb, and try to describe the simplest methods that I know of.
The first method - “smoke” from the line
This method, due to its simplicity and accessibility of components, was very popular among schoolchildren in the 80s of the last century. At that time, celluloid was often used to make toys, school supplies and simple measuring instruments (pencil cases, rulers, tumbler dolls). Having a thing made from celluloid, any student knew how to make a smoke bomb at home. To do this, it was only necessary to wrap pieces of this material in paper and the "smoke" was ready - we set it on fire, immediately blow off the flame and enjoy the puffs of dense white smoke.
The second way - a newspaper saturated with nitrate.
To make such a checker, the following components are needed: saltpeter, sugar, water and a pack of old newspapers. Nitrate as a fertilizer is sold in any gardening store, and it is not difficult to purchase it. It is of two types: ammonia and potassium. Ammonia is more suitable for the “chimney”, moreover, it is more common.
We select a container in which it will be convenient to soak the newspapers, and fill it with water. We completely dissolve nitrate in water at the rate of three parts of nitrate to seven parts of water. Then we take sugar in the amount of half of the saltpeter used and also add it to the solution. (Note: sugar is not necessary, but according to my observations, a checker burns faster with it and produces significantly more smoke).
In the resulting solution, we soak the newspapers and put them out to dry (you can not dry them in direct sunlight). When the newspapers dry out, you need to twist them into a tight roll and pack an aluminum beer can, in which the top and bottom are previously cut. Having rammed the roll, it is necessary to bend the edges of the can, so that holes on the 3-5 cm diameter remain on both sides. That's all. We insert the wick, rolled up from the same newspaper, set fire, throw it away. In no case should you use this checker indoors - it can easily cause a fire.
The third way - for hardworking
The ingredients for this smoke bomb are the same as those described in the previous method, except that soda is needed instead of water. The essence of the option of making a smoke bomb is that saltpeter needs to be melted with sugar. This is done in a metal dish over low heat with continuous stirring to prevent sticking to the walls of the dish. After the composition turns into a homogeneous glassy mass of brown color, you need to add soda to it (do not forget to constantly mix the composition). The resulting mass cools to a temperature of 35-40 degrees and is pressed into a matchbox or other shell. A hole under the wick is squeezed out with a pencil in the center, and the finished “smoke exhaust” is left for final cooling (possible in the freezer). All. We put it on the ground, set it on fire and run away !.
How to make a smoke bomb without nitrate - method four
We buy analgin and hydroperite in the pharmacy , grind them into powder. We fall asleep in a box or just in foil, heat it with a match and run from puffs of smoke! When making a "flue" in this way, it should be remembered that the reaction will go even at a temperature of 36 degrees, that is, this mixture should not be heated in hands. If you feel that the box or jar with the composition has started to heat up, immediately drop it.
