The Skyrim Dwemer race is one of the many elven peoples that lived in the north of the Tamriel continent about 4 thousand years ago. Humans, even in-game characters, often confuse deep elves with gnomes. This is one of the most common misconceptions regarding the lore of the universe of The Elder Scrolls. There are no dwarf people wielding axes in the game. The Skyrim Dwemer race disappeared after the eruption of Red Mountain, which served as the end of the First Era.
Brief description of the Dwemer race
Deep Elves are the people who inhabit the great underground cities of Skyrim. The remains of their structures are still scattered throughout Tamriel. The only evidence of their appearance today are statues. Thanks to these structures, we can know that, like other elves, the Dwemer had sharp ears and high stature. Men let go of their long beards, some representatives braided dreadlocks.
Skyrim Dwemer Story
Little is known about the origin and later life of the deep elves. Evidence of the life of the ancient race is not numerous, but they seriously help in attempts to recreate their life and culture.
The Dwemer of Skyrim, like most other elven races, descended from the Aldmeri - the progenitors of all measures of Nirn. They separated from the “First People” around the middle of the Merethic era. Although most of the Dwemer lived in Skyrim, their main city was in Morrowind and was called Vvardenfell. Translated, this word means "City of the Strong Shield."
Religion of the Dwemer
Deep Elves are perhaps the only people in the Elder Scrolls universe to be called atheists. They were always distinguished by intelligence, and also, at any opportunity, tried to ridicule the beliefs of other peoples, placing themselves even higher than the gods. Despite this, there is evidence that the Dwemer revered Magnus, one of the three ancestors of Nirn.
Disappearance story
The Skyrim Dwemers tried to create their own god, which ultimately worked out for them. He became artificially developed from the Heart of Lorkhan Numidium - "copper god". Also among the goals of the Skyrim Dwemer was the achievement of immortality. The heart of Lorkhan was also involved in these experiments. For this purpose, they created three artifacts to help extract power from the Dead God. They became: glove Phantom Guard, hammer Separator and knife Cutter. The situation with other nations has become seriously aggravated, as everyone began to understand what power they could gain. Subsequently, the conflicts provoked the battle of Red Mountain, after which they all disappeared. Many believe that they died. According to other theories, the Skyrim Dwemer still managed to gain immortality, but already in the external dimension.

Their disappearance is the main mystery of Nirn, which no one could solve. In the fifth part of the series, the protagonist is introduced to a magician trying to recreate the picture of those days. As a result, he also disappears from this world.
Where could the Dwemer be found?
The only representative of this race who has remained in Nirn is the character TES: Morrowind - an old man dying of a disease, whose name is Jagrum Bagart. The only way to look at this race in Skyrim is with the Dwemer mod. This is a fan patch that is not related to the lore of the game.
