European Zyuznik is a perennial plant with unique medicinal properties due to the high content of lithospermic acid, essential oil, resins, glycosides and tannins.

Outwardly resembling nettle, such grass is mostly found on moist soils, namely in ditches and along the banks of water bodies; some specimens grow directly in the water.
The plant, also called “marsh grass”, “heart grass”, “wolf paw”, “forest hemp”, “wild mother plant”, is 25-100 cm high and is widespread in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Western and Eastern Siberia, in the Caucasus.
In Ukraine, perennial grass is called the "wolf-foot" due to the similarity of flower petals with traces of the wolf. Through water stomata placed on the leaves, the plant releases a large amount of moisture. Drop droplets slowly flow down, as if from the clothes of a zyuzi - a man who has been exposed to rain. This similarity gave the perennial the Russian name "zyuznik".
Description
European zyuznik is a plant not lush, has a tetrahedral, erect, branched in the upper part of the stem with oppositely spaced oblong-serrated leaves: lower ones with petioles, upper ones sessile. Inflorescences - false whorls are placed in the leaf axils of the European zyuznik grass.
The flowers are white, small, regular funnel-shaped, with a 4-split corolla in a bright purple speck on the lip and throat, produce a specific aroma. Spindle root. Fruits are smooth nuts. July-September is the time when the European inmate blooms. The collection, use for medicinal purposes of the aerial parts of the plant (flowers, stems, leaves) are recommended precisely during this period, when the largest accumulation of essential oil occurs. The collected raw materials are bundled and dried in a ventilated room, under a canopy or in the open air; retains healing properties for 2 years.
Hyperthyroidism treatment
European zyuznik, whose medicinal properties are appreciated by traditional medicine, has soothing, hemostatic, diuretic, analgesic, antipyretic and anti-febrile properties. An important active ingredient in the plant is lithospermic acid, which is involved in the treatment of many forms of hyperthyroidism - a common hormonal disease caused by excessive thyroid activity.
This organ increases in size and begins to massively and uncontrollably produce thyroid hormones that are toxic to the body. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism are heart palpitations, persistent nervousness, excessive sweating, anxiety and irritability. The patient quickly gets tired, depressed, sleeps poorly, changes sharply in his mood, crying. Hyperfunction of the thyroid gland leads to an acceleration of all metabolic processes in the body and an increase in the breakdown of proteins, therefore, even by eating intensely, a person is rapidly losing weight.
Lithospermic acid is a component of zyznik extract, reduces the excitability of the thyroid gland, inhibits the production of excessive amounts of thyroxine and other hormones, normalizes iodine metabolism. European zyuznik extract acts gently and positively on the patient: the heart rate decreases, the eyelids tremble, the state of excitement disappears, and sleep is restored.
The official medicine of many European countries in the treatment of hyperthyroidism uses the drug Thyreogutt®mono, produced on the basis of such a useful herb.
The use of European zyuznik
In folk medicine, to restore the thyroid gland, it is recommended to use tea from a zyuznik, for which it takes 2 teaspoons of dry grass, brew a glass of boiling water for 10 minutes, then strain and take in small sips in a warm form. The daily norm is 2 cups, the duration of treatment is 3-4 weeks.
The increased function of the thyroid gland can be normalized by the following collection: 2 parts of a European alpine, plantain, hawthorn, strawberry leaf and 1 part of lemon balm, sage, mistletoe. Grind the ingredients, combine. Take 0.5 grams of such a collection for 0.5 liters of water, boil for 5-7 minutes, insist for about an hour. Strain. Add 100 drops of tincture obtained by mixing in equal proportions tinctures of hops, motherwort, hawthorn, mint and valerian, as well as 10 grams of juice of a succession (or motherwort) and honey in the amount of 1 tablespoon. The healing agent should be taken 20 minutes before a meal, 100 ml, 4 times a day.
Therapeutic recipe
For serious heart diseases and heart palpitations, a unique infusion of infants is used, which in combination with the main drug therapy helps to get rid of vegetative-vascular dystonia. For the preparation of a medicinal product 1 tbsp. a spoonful of crushed dried grass is required to pour boiling water (300 grams) and leave in a dark place for a couple of hours. Strain. Consume 50 ml 4 times a day 20 minutes before meals. The duration of treatment is about 3 weeks. You can resume the course after a week break.
Alcohol tincture from European zyuznik
An alcohol tincture from a zyuznik is prepared as follows: crushed dry grass needs to be diluted with vodka in a ratio of 1: 5 or alcohol - 1:10, insisted for 2 weeks in a warm place, periodically shaking. Take with a piece of sugar, which you need to moisten with 10-15 drops and chew until completely dissolved. This method determines the rapid transportation of biologically active substances into the body and their complete assimilation. 25-30 drops of vodka infusion can be drunk with half a glass of water three times a day.
If the drug is not effective enough, an incomplete teaspoon of mashed leaves of the plant is also recommended, which must be chewed until the fragments and fibers are completely softened. Drink clean water. Powder and infusion should be consumed before meals.
The healing properties of grass
Glycosides of the European inmate are able to normalize the rapid pulse. Herb in combination with motherwort is especially effective: it helps to restore metabolism, restore calm to the nervous system, eliminate irritability, restore physical and mental performance. In combination with the main treatment, the use of a healing extract, which can also normalize the blood composition in the body, allows you to achieve a quick positive result in treatment.
European zyuznik grass is effective in the treatment of hormonal malfunctions of a gynecological nature: menstrual irregularities and mastopathy.
European zyuznik: contraindications
It is not recommended to use preparations based on zyuznik to pregnant women and children under 12 years of age. Patients with diffuse goiter and hypertension use only after consulting a doctor. A fairly long reception and an overestimated dosage of the drug can adversely affect the work of the pancreas.
The use of the inmate in all dosage forms helps to cope not only with mild symptoms of thyrotoxicosis and hyperthyroidism, but also with persistent manifestations of a chronic disease.
