Forged gates, gates, fences have been used for more than a decade in everyday life. Today they are not very rare, but still remain inaccessible to most of our fellow citizens. Basically, they have a decorative function, although they are used for their main purpose - to fence off the territory of a particular owner from another space.
Varieties of forged gates
A wicket made with art forging elements can be transparent, opening the view of the courtyard, or solid, when the front side is closed with a metal sheet on which ornamental patterns can be interwoven from both one and both sides.
Translucent polycarbonate can be used to facilitate construction. It is more affordable and looks pretty good.
Wickets with forging elements are even cheaper, but also practical and aesthetic.
Independent work on the manufacture of these products is quite complicated, however, with the existence of a certain patience, you can realize the designs of forged wickets.
We create a project and purchase materials
In this case, the project is called a sketch. Forged gates, gates and other goods made in this way should have it. It can be invented by the manufacturer or selected from the appropriate catalogs.
After determining the appearance of the future wicket, it is necessary to purchase materials designed to bring the sketch to life. The frame can be created from a profile having a cross-sectional size of 30x20 mm.
Bars are made of thicker material. Small curls are made of a square rod having a small cross section.
Material preparation
For the manufacture of forged gates, the purchased material must be prepared. Achieving this goal is carried out using a grinder (cutting a profile pipe and rod) and a pipe bender. When cutting to obtain a smooth edge, the materials must be turned over.
The pipe bender is used in cases where the sketch of the gate provides for a curved upper bar in the frame. It should be borne in mind that the edges should remain even on both sides by at least 10 cm.

Curls are made on a machine called a “snail”. Despite the fact that they are thinner, it is better to heat them as well. If it is necessary to create symmetrical curls, they are twisted equally, alternately on each side, trying to maintain symmetry.
In the presence of peaks in the design of elements, an eccentric machine is used for their manufacture. Their production should be accompanied by a turn of the workpiece each time at a right angle. Peaks begin to be made by cutting diamond-shaped or square blanks from sheet metal. Three-dimensionality is given to these elements by heating on a high-temperature fire until white appears on the metal. After that, with the help of ticks, they are transferred to the anvil, where they are splashed with a large hammer. The cooling of the obtained elements is carried out either in vivo or with the aim of hardening in cold water.
Clamps fastening curls or leaves are made of metal plates having small dimensions (20x2 mm), which give a finished look to the forged product and hide the weld points.
The forged wicker rods are twisted to give them a twisted shape on a machine called a torsion bar. In order to get the same blanks, each of them must be scrolled on it the same number of times.
Assembly assembly
The wrought-iron gate is collected slowly, constantly referring to the sketch, in order to prevent errors when welding various elements.
After the collector makes sure of the correctness and symmetry of the pattern, the parts are fastened with small welds, and then they are cleaned with a brush for metal and a grinding wheel.
If there are complex elements such as leaves or flowers in the sketch of the gate or gate, it is better to purchase them at the point of sale where they are sold. Their welding is carried out last.
Painting gates and gates
After welding the elements and degreasing them in the places of welding, they start painting. First, if the three-in-one mixture is not used, a primer is applied, and after it dries, a paint is applied. In this case, its matte variety is used, as a rule, in black. Some elements of the structures in question may be patinated or silver plated.
Gates and gates can be left openwork or partially (completely) sewn up with a profiled sheet, carboxyl.

First dig a hole with a shovel or drill. Digging depth is determined by the type of soil, its mechanical composition, depth of freezing. Sand and gravel are poured to create an appropriate pillow. Pillars are inserted strictly vertically. The free space is covered with broken brick or rubble, after which it is poured with cement-sand mortar (1: 3) or concrete. It freezes for 3 days.
Pillars can be made of stone. They must be reinforced with metal rods and installed on the foundation.
The number of hinges per leaf is determined by how heavy the gate is. Usually they hang 2 pieces, for heavier use three. The lower loop is placed at a distance of 40 cm from the edge of the sash frame.
The gates must be hung so that at least 8 cm remains to the surface of the dirt platform.

Types of Forged Gates
The following types of products are distinguished:
- swing - the most common, the sash opens in both directions;
- retractable - one-piece canvas with rolling along the fence;
- automatic - can be both oar and retractable - are used to open them from the remote control.
Unlike the wicket, which is sometimes made open, the gates in most cases are made closed.
Positive and negative qualities of forged products
The advantage is that they always look exquisite, are durable and reliable. In addition, they are environmentally friendly and combined with any street elements.
However, they also have disadvantages:
- the mounting process is quite complicated;
- high cost of products.

It consists in rubbing them, periodically tinting when peeling old paint, lubricating the moving elements to prevent squeaking. In the presence of a large number of forged elements, washing is carried out with a powerful jet of water.
