It is enough to do this once, but in extreme heat, watering is increased as necessary.
Why clematis does not bloom, what should I do? One reason is the lack of moisture. To better hold it, the soil around the plants should be loosened regularly, especially after rains, and mulched with straw, sawdust, peat, humus.

Why does not clematis bloom? And what to do? An important reason is non-compliance with the rules and timing of trimming. But it depends on her how long and plentifully the vine will bloom. The correct pruning depends on the garden group, which includes one or another kind of clematis:
- The first group. It includes varieties of clematis, which bloom in the spring (May).
- The second group. It includes plants of this species, the flowering of which begins with the onset of summer and in the autumn period.
- The third group. In its composition - clematis, blooming throughout the summer.
Pruning clematis of the first group
The procedure is carried out in the spring. If you completely cut the shoots of last year, the plant will not bloom. Therefore, such clematis in the spring is not much pruned. Make the shortening of the stems to the level of a meter and a half. So that the young shoot does not cover the flowers on the lashes, it is removed, but not completely.
They leave stronger shoots on which flower buds of next year will be laid. Shoots with faded buds need to be cut in the fall. This group includes princes, mountain clematis and their varieties.
Pruning plants of the second group
This includes such varieties as Florida, Lanuginoza, Patens. Clematis in this group bloom twice a year. The first time - on last year's shoots in May-June, the second - on the shoots of a given year from July to September. During the period of each flowering, pruning is carried out.
The summer procedure involves the removal of faded buds on the shoots of last year, but if they are weak, they are completely cut out. In the autumn period, flower buds are laid on the shoots of a given year, so they are subject to weak pruning. It is done this way: 10-15 knots are counted from the surface of the earth, and the rest of the stem is cut off. Completely damaged and diseased shoots are removed. If you neglect pruning, flowering can not wait.
Pruning Clematis of the Third Group
This includes varieties with large flowers. They are represented by a group of clematis Jacqueman, Vititzella and some small-flowered varieties. Flowering plants carried out on the growths of one year. This period falls on summer and autumn. Pruning is best done in late fall. To do this, remove all the shoots completely or leave a small part of the stem at the level of the first leaf.
If the clematis of these groups are not trimmed before winter, young shoots from the upper paired buds will begin to develop in the spring, leaving the lower part of the plant bare. However, on these stems, flowering will come later for one or even two weeks. Florists often resort to such manipulations if they have many bushes growing in their garden. This prolongs the flowering period.
Growing clematis is not possible without pruning shoots. After it, the bush looks neat. There are no rotten, sick and extra stems. On those that remain, more inflorescences appear, since the plant does not consume nutrients in vain, all of them go on the development of buds. The reasons why the plant does not bloom profusely
