Each gardener invariably grows tomatoes in the countryside. This is not surprising, because tomatoes contain a huge amount of vitamins. Fleshy fruits are used to prepare the most delicious dishes and, of course, pickled and salted for the winter. In addition, tomatoes do not require special care and germinate well in cool summers.
At the end of the 20th century, breeders bred a new variety of tomato - “Wild Rose”, which immediately interested gardeners, as it is suitable for planting in open ground or a film greenhouse. However, in the absence of the ability to sow seeds directly into the soil, seedlings can be prepared at home.
Tomato "Wild Rose": variety description
Tomatoes emerge and ripen rather quickly - no more than 115 days. Since plants of this variety reach a height of 160 cm, the bushes must be tied up and stepsoned. The leaves of the Wild Rose are large, bright green, and the fruits are round, weighing from 0.35 to 1 kg. During ripening, dark spots form on the peel of the tomato, but after ripening the tomatoes acquire a pink hue. The yield of this variety is 6 kg / m 2 .
Among the advantages of the Wild Rose tomato, its unpretentiousness is worth highlighting. Tomatoes do not need frequent watering. They are also not susceptible to the tobacco mosaic virus. In addition, the vegetable tolerates any weather conditions and sudden changes in temperature.
Due to its characteristics, Wild Rose tomatoes are excellent both for canning and for adding to fresh salads.
Growing Features
A “wild rose” can grow in the open air, however, more fruit can be obtained by planting tomatoes in a greenhouse.
It is better to prepare the soil for this variety loose and not nutritious. You can also safely plant the Wild Rose tomato in saline soil. Best of all, tomatoes will grow on the spot where pumpkin and bean cultures, cucumbers or cabbage have been growing for a long time. In the soil where potatoes, onions or peppers used to grow, this variety is not recommended to be planted.
Growing seedlings at home
As mentioned earlier, the Wild Rose variety is unpretentious. That is why it is possible to carry out the cultivation of tomato seedlings both at home and immediately on a suburban area. To plant tomatoes on the balcony or windowsill, you must first prepare the seeds. To do this, perform the following steps:
- Soak the seeds in the ash liquid for 6-8 hours 3-4 days before planting. To prepare the solution, add 1 large spoonful of wood ash to a liter of water.
- When the seeds absorb all the beneficial substances from the ash composition and swell a little, they need to be disinfected. To do this, they dip for 20 minutes in a fairly strong solution of potassium permanganate and washed with running water.
- Place the seeds in the refrigerator for 3 days.
- Take the soil from the site and mix it with the Violet store soil in a ratio of 1: 1.
- Add 0.5 l of ash and a few tablespoons of superphosphates to the resulting mixture.
- Fill the seedling container. As containers for sowing, you can use any boxes with drainage holes at the bottom. However, before you start growing tomato seedlings at home, you must rinse the pots well with water and hold them in a potassium permanganate solution for 3-4 hours. If clay containers are used, then they must be calcined in the oven.
- Lay the seeds in the soil and water.
- Cover containers with landings with plastic wrap and put the pots in a warm place.
- After 5-6 days, the film can be removed and rearranged the boxes in a well-lit place.
- It is best if the seedlings grow at a temperature of +22 to +24 degrees.

In such conditions, young tomatoes will grow strong and immune to pests and diseases.
When the bushes grow a little (around mid-May) and the first real leaves appear on them, seedlings can be transplanted into the greenhouse. However, before this, the sprouts need to be slightly hardened. To do this, 1-2 times a week, you need to transfer them to a closed loggia or to a greenhouse so that the young planting is "used" to the new environment.
Features of growing seedlings on the site
Sowing wild rose tomato seeds in closed ground is necessary in early March. Before laying the seeds in the soil, they must be decontaminated by soaking them in a solution of potassium permanganate.
After this, you need to prepare the soil. To destroy all harmful bacteria in the soil, it must be thoroughly warmed up. After that, seeds are laid on the moistened soil (at a distance of at least 60-70 cm from each other) and sprinkled with a layer of peat or fresh garden soil.
Features of care for young seedlings
In order for the yield of the Wild Rose tomato to be high, it is necessary to take care of the plants planted in the ground. When the seedlings will be 5-6 sheets, it is necessary to tie them up. It is advisable to immediately start the bush on the trellis. In order for the tomatoes to get as much oxygen as possible, the lower leaves of the seedlings should be removed.
The greenhouse with tomatoes should be periodically ventilated, opened in hot weather and, conversely, warmed up in case of unexpected frosts.
What to feed
Like any other vegetables, tomatoes need to be fed. To accelerate growth, various water-based mineral fertilizers are used. This variety also responds well to organic additives. However, it is not worth feeding the seedlings too much, especially considering the resistance of the Wild Rose to various diseases.
To care for these tomatoes, it is recommended to prepare a very simple fertilizer - add 20 g of ammonium nitrate to a bucket of water. The first time this dressing must be applied 7 days after planting the seedlings in the greenhouse (if seedlings were sown immediately in the greenhouse, then after 1.5 months). After this, the fertilizer procedure is repeated 2 more times with an interval of 10 days.
Also, immediately after planting seedlings, they can be treated with epin. A second procedure is performed shortly before flowering.
Before fruiting, it is also recommended that the plants be treated with copper-containing agents. Typically, Bordeaux fluid, Homa and Oxychoma are used for this. These drugs protect the root system from late blight.
If you follow all the recommendations above, then from one bush "Wild Rose" you can get from 6 to 10 kg of juicy and sweet fruits.
