What is Fedotova spit? This is the area of the village of Kirillovka, alluvial sandbank, which goes towards Genichesk. It is so long that its end is already in the Kherson region, although the village itself is administratively owned by Zaporizhzhya. The length of the spit is 45 kilometers. It is the second largest in Ukraine after the Arabat arrow. Fedotova Spit is the most popular and popular tourist destination in Kirillovka. Why? Now we will see what the beach people say about her, and we will find out everything.
The resort region of Kirillovka, Fedotova spit and surroundings
This beach area is located on the Sea of Azov. The nearest major city with a railway station is Melitopol. But unlike many other Ukrainian resorts such as Odessa, near Kirillovka there has never been either industry or ports. The village is surrounded by the steppe and healing estuaries. Kirillovka is located in the south of Zaporizhzhya region. Administratively, it belongs to the city of Akimovka. The village consists of the central part and several micro-districts - Tsarskoye Selo, Kirillovka-2 and Sanatorium. On both sides of it, two sandy spits - Peresyp and Fedotova - go into the sea. We will describe the latter here.
Spit Location
Where exactly is this resort area of Kirillovka located? Fedotova spit is a fairly narrow sand strip to the southwest of the center of the village. Its beaches - quite wide, sandy with shell rock - overlook the Sea of Azov. And the other side of the spit, overgrown with reeds, is washed by the Utlyuk estuary. But there are beaches. When the sea is stormy, some people, especially with babies, go sunbathing on the estuary. It is always warm and very shallow, however, the water is much more salt than in the sea. Almost the entire braid is completely flat, with the exception of small steep sections. Unlike the center of Kirillovka, where you always have to go down the stairs to the water, and during storms the sea mixes with clay, from any dwelling on this spit go to the beach for no more than three to five minutes. Therefore, tourists often prefer to relax here. According to travelers, this resort area is usually divided into near, middle and distant, as well as Stepok farm. Then comes the ten-kilometer zone of absolutely wild places. The roads there are no longer asphalted, and not even a primer, but simply rolled sand. The spit ends with a national park called "Biryuchy Ostrov".
How to get there
There are two bus stations in Kirillovka. One - unofficial - is located in the center of the village, next to the city administration building and the market. Private minibuses usually arrive there, who are on duty at the train station in the city of Melitopol in season. They are waiting for passengers and taking them to Kirillovka as they fill. Regular buses from the same station near the Melitopol station come to another place. It is located at the exit of the village, literally 500 meters from the center. This is the official bus station. There is a waiting room, as well as cash desks. Tourists advise if you want to go to Fedotova Spit, and not to the center of Kirillovka, either take the usual flight route, or ask the driver to stop at the station. Why? The fact is that the buses to this spit depart precisely from the station at the exit. They drive quite often, literally every quarter of an hour. The main thing is not to confuse and not to take a bus that leaves in the opposite direction, to the Peresyp spit. The terminal station of such minibuses is Stepok Farm. If you travel further to Biryuchy Island, you need to either provide yourself with a transfer, or travel by car.
Near scythe
This is the oldest and most “chic” part of the district. This area of Fedotova Spit is located in the immediate vicinity of the village of Kirillovka. Tourists advise it to those who, on the one hand, want to swim in the clear sea, and on the other, have all the leisure infrastructure at hand. There is a water park, nightclubs, discos, a Ferris wheel with other attractions, and all kinds of entertainment here. As for the purchase of products, the Middle Spit is a continuous market. There’s something selling here on every corner. Two roads run along the Near Spit. One of them, the old one, is a primer sprinkled with sand. Most recreation centers in this area are located just behind this road. And the highway, along which buses go, is already behind the boarding houses and runs along the estuary. There are most people in the Near Spit, but you can walk to Kirillovka.
Medium braid
This part of Fedotka, as travelers like to call it, is located on the narrowest part of the spit. There are many exits to the estuary. The old dirt road ends on the Middle Spit. A market works here, from which no more than five minutes go from any place. Interestingly, at a local bazaar at affordable prices you can buy ready-made food - soups, salads, meatballs, chops, various desserts. Everything is fresh and tasty. If you live at the base without food, but with a kitchen, you just have to warm up the purchased food. For money, tourists say, it is cheaper if you buy products separately and cook yourself. In the evenings, a tourist mini-train runs between the Near and Middle Scythe. He is very fond of children. Recreation facilities Fedotova spit in this part are located in two or three rows. There are those that stand right on the sea, and there are also closer to the estuary. There are neither more nor less people on the beaches. But compared to the center of Kirillovka, it’s just a desert.
Far Spit and Stepok
Oddly enough, this area is more crowded. Especially compared to the Middle Scythe. Stepok is such a fishing farm. There are not only recreation centers, but also private housing. Stepok is located in the place of the spit where it expands. Therefore, from some places to the sea you need to go about ten minutes. Stepka has its own market and many shops. But in the direction of the island of Biryuchi from this farm begins a strip of completely wild beaches. “Savages” with tents like to come there. Where there are practically no people, the beaches are very clean and wide, and the sand is fine, even with almost no shell rock admixture. But there is no infrastructure, like roads. And in July there are a lot of mosquitoes.
Biryuchy Island
This is the southernmost section of the spit. There are several recreation centers and a national park on it. Until 1929, these places were separated from the spit by a strait. Now you can get there by car, although on the sand. Fills the ferry only in the spring. On the island of Biryuchye the largest, cleanest and most deserted beaches. And several recreation centers and private cottages, which are located here, are oriented either on a family or on a romantic vacation. People with money come here and want to spend a vacation in nature, without noise and fuss. Prices for accommodation on the island of Biryuchye are the highest on the whole spit. But in these places you can completely immerse yourself in unity with nature, and also see rare animals and birds. Here, on the territory of the national park, not only local species live, but also specially brought here - kulans, fallow deer, mouflon, zebras, deer. Sea or land excursions are organized in this reserve.
Spit housing
At the beginning and center of Fedotki, where the infrastructure is developed, there are many recreation centers and private hotels, where it will be interesting to relax for both young people and companies, and families with children. Here there are quite cheap housing options, rebuilt from Soviet departmental pensions or children's camps, as well as new hotels with animation. The most famous base on Fedotova Spit is the Water World. It is located at the very beginning of this area, not far from the center of Kirillovka. This is a hotel with modern rooms, well-kept enclosed grounds and restaurant cuisine. But most of the housing on the near spit is rather low class with overpriced prices, there is little greenery, and the Internet is slow. The Fedotki center has good reviews of such bases as Admiral and Tropikanka. On the far spit there are several successful and popular options for tourists. But the most interesting option is the Fedotova Spit database (Kirillovka). Inexpensive prices, rooms of different comforts - from wooden houses to rooms in the building and log cabins, the ability to eat in the dining room or cook on your own, your own beach with awnings and - a rarity for the local area - a huge green area. In Stepka, all hotels, guest houses and the private sector are focused on a quiet, family holiday. First of all, tourists like that all the local beaches are free and open to anyone. Everywhere you can sunbathe on your own towel or rent sunbeds and umbrellas for the whole day at almost the same price throughout the braid. Some bases provide such beach accessories to their guests for free. At the same time, unlike Kirillovka, the sea is deep, and it’s nice for adults to swim here. And for kids there are beaches on the estuary. Many vacationers are sure that rest on Fedotova Spit helps to improve health. It is useful to travel to people with problems with the respiratory system, as well as those with reduced immunity. But there are, of course, problems. For example, “wi-fi” on the braid is paid and not too fast. Water here needs to be drunk only purchased and bottled. In addition, there is a recreation center on Fedotova Spit with the same name. This introduces some confusion, so even minibus drivers often don’t know where to drop you off.
