Fathers and children are an eternal theme that will never lose its relevance. Today we are children who do not accept the lifestyle of parents, and tomorrow we are fathers who do not understand the actions of children. This topic became the basis of Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons”. The conflict between generations and between the socio-political beliefs of the heroes of the novel is described . The novel was written in the 60s, now the century before last. And this is the time when the contradictions of the democrats and liberals intensified in connection with the question of the removal of serfdom.

Ivan Sergeevich was born into a noble family. His mother, Varvara Nikolaevna, adhered to strict feudal customs and orders in the family. She believed that corporal punishment was a universal measure of suggestion. It is clear that not only the guilty serfs were punished, but also her own children. They were whipped for everything: for an unlearned lesson, an incomprehensible joke, for the most trifling prank. In this brutal home school of life, Turgenev learned to sympathize, painfully sympathize with other people's torment. But back to the topic of our article.
Bazarov - characterization of the hero
“Fathers and Sons” tells of two friends - Arkady Kirsanov and Evgeny Bazarov. A characteristic of the latter is a description of a pragmatist. A man lives a permanent job. He is not distracted by tenderness, does not recognize art, the beauty of music or poetry.
For him, nature is nothing but a workshop that satisfies
human needs. He does not notice her beauty. Freedom, strong will, constant labor, honesty, a sharp mind - this is the whole Bazarov. The characterization of his relationship with his parents reveals that he is not such a “cracker,” and is capable of feelings such as love and tenderness. Eugene loves his old people, only carefully hides it. The outbreak of love for Odintsova shows his passionate, and at the same time strong nature. He was able to overcome himself in the midst of his passion. The main ideological opponent of Bazarov was Pavel Kirsanov.
Bazarov and Kirsanov - comparative description
Pavel Petrovich is a true gentleman with the habits of an aristocrat. He is an adherent of the old order. In his opinion, only the aristocracy is capable of developing society. Therefore, Bazarov is simply alien to him. The characteristic of their relationship is as follows: Kirsanov is an ardent defender of the old orders, and Bazarov seeks to eradicate these orders.
Pavel Petrovich does not understand how to disregard the opinions of others. He does not recognize the nihilists, considers them weak and unnecessary. And constantly trying to challenge his opponent in a dispute. Bazarov, on the other hand, considers any argument an unnecessary shake of the air. But when he is nevertheless forced to argue, he speaks harshly and bluntly.
In general, Turgenev conveys the insolvency of both parties. A good old, but already frozen state is Kirsanov. An incomprehensible new, but living state is Bazarov. The characteristic of Kirsanov's insolvency is that one cannot remain in one state, one must move forward. And people like Bazarov are harbingers of change. But they are not perfect yet, they understand that everything needs to be changed, but they do not know how to do it right. You cannot completely destroy the old without building something new. But in any case, the future belongs to those like Evgeny Bazarov.
