The forest itself is not dangerous, but there are some threats and obstacles that can obscure the campaign for mushrooms, so it is so important to properly prepare for such an event. Concentration and caution - the main thing that is useful in the forest.
Training
Before you go camping for mushrooms, you should thoroughly prepare for it, because the success of the event depends on it. Firstly, it is necessary to choose protective clothing. It must be tight so that mosquitoes cannot penetrate through it, it will also help from unwanted scratches on tree branches and from hypothermia (it is always colder in the forest). It is best to have a hat with you in both cold and hot weather. Shoes need to be given special attention. The best option is rubber boots, they are able to qualitatively protect the legs. Secondly, you need to take care of the equipment:
- a basket, bucket or bag for mushrooms;
- mosquito repellent;
- knife for cutting legs;
- a compass (if the place is unfamiliar), a clock, a telephone - in order not to lose track of time and be determined in space.
Thirdly, if you plan to go to the forest for a long time, you need to take with you for a snack products with a long shelf life: cookies, water, stew, vegetables or other. Some people should take care of medicines.
Who to go with
It is best to go to the forest with experienced mushroom pickers, as they are probably well-versed in the area and know exactly which mushrooms are edible and which are poisonous. Organized activities for collecting mushrooms are possible, they are held by mushroom picker clubs.
You can organize such leisure by agreeing with people who are members of such an organization. Own club of fans of "silent hunting" can be found in almost every region. From them, you can get a lot of useful practical tips on picking mushrooms, rules of conduct in the forest, and so on.
How to behave in the forest
Care must be taken when going for mushrooms, as the forest may be unsafe. It follows:
- look around at the edge of the forest, remember the place of entry, mark it (if required);
- during the whole stay look under your feet so as not to get into the pit, hole or anthill;
- you can find a stick along the chest and walk, leaning on it and probing the soil under your feet, also with a stick you can move branches and cobwebs;
- Do not move away from the group, constantly stay in sight;
- Do not pick unknown mushrooms.
Before going to the forest, it is very important to notify at least one of your relatives. Tell your family where you are going, with whom and when you plan to return. Going for mushrooms, it is important to wear bright clothes. This will allow comrades to see you from afar. It is best to comply with these minimum rules so that your vacation is not overshadowed.
