From the history of the museum
In 1995, the 100th anniversary of the poet's birthday was celebrated. By this date, the Yesenin Museum in Moscow was opened. Its first exposition was collected at the initiative of people who are not indifferent to the work of the outstanding Russian poet. Restoration work
In 2010, the government of the capital, the Esenin Museum in Moscow was expanded - the institution was allocated an additional building on Chernyshevsky Street, house number 4, which the poet had visited several times, since meetings of the Surikovsky literary and musical circle were often held there. The building belongs to the construction of 1905, therefore, it requires repair work and the foundation, and the walls, and the roof.
In 2014, design work began aimed at preserving the historic appearance of the mansion. It is supposed to turn the State Museum of Sergei Yesenin in Moscow into a modern museum complex that can receive many visitors. In addition, it is planned to create comfortable conditions for employees of the institution for more fruitful scientific work within the walls of the house-museum. Today
this building is already closed for reconstruction.
