Flower story
Farah Diba was an Azerbaijani by birth. While studying in France at the architectural department, she met her future husband, Shah Reza Pahveli, in the house of his eldest daughter from his first wife. The extraordinary beauty, intelligence, determination and freedom-loving nature of the girl did not leave him indifferent.
Short dates ended in an official marriage in 1959. Farah is the first crowned woman in the history of the Persian monarchy. This event happened in 1967, by then the couple already had two children - a seven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.
The story of the rose Farah began in 1973. Contrary to the prohibitions of Georges Delbar, one of the best breeders in France, the flower was inadvertently displayed at the competition by William Lavarca, an employee of Delbard. Rosa Vivre received a prize.
The ceremony at the competition was led by the president of the Foundation for Children, Farah Pahlavi.
In 1974, Farah was visiting France. The woman wished to meet with Georges Delbar, who came to the reception at the Grand Trianon Palace with a whole basket of roses. The audience lasted longer than planned, the breeder was fascinated by the timbre of the voice and the unique beauty of Farah. Shahin Farah, who was involved in the development of Iran’s orchards, asked the gardener to help in this matter. The result of this meeting was a contract involving the creation of gardens on 6 thousand hectares of the north-east of the country, which Georges Delbar signed with the Iranian government in 1975. Over seven years, 3 million seedlings were planted in these territories, the contract ended with the beginning of the revolution.
Unexpected continuation
The story had a fabulous sequel. Henri Delbar (the son of a breeder) accidentally finding himself in the shop of a Parisian florist, met Fahrach. The woman attracted his attention with her unusual voice. Henry introduced himself to the woman. Upon learning who she was, he invited her to visit her father in Milicorn.
The empress did not refuse the visit, during which it was proposed to name one of the varieties of roses, which had rare virtues, her name.
In those days, there were rumors among amateur gardeners that Delbard had released a series called "Shah's Roses," although no one knew the true name. The flowers that entered it were distinguished by their large size and unique aroma. No one knew the names of the varieties, but the series was associated with the name Imperatrice Farah. There have been many attempts by gardeners to compile this series of available varieties.
Currently, this variety Empress Farah is not uncommon, but many gardeners are still trying to pick five more varieties for it.
In 1992, the species became the owner of numerous awards and prizes received at major competitions. In 1995, the title "Crystal Rose" at the competition in Orleans received the rose Empress Farah.
Grade description
A distinctive feature of the flower is its non-standard color, with a transition from white to bright red. The buds are large, their shape resembles a glass. Smoothly blossoming, buds turn into double flowers. The flower's bent outward tips of purplish-red color give an elegant look. The buds, opening gradually, remain as dense, only carmine petals are slightly bent. The flower has a high center, so the bud that has not yet opened is decorated with tiers of purple-red strokes. The lack of sunlight leads to the coloring of these strokes in bright pink shades.
Most often, roses with single buds are found. But since the variety Empress Farah has many shoots, the bush looks lush and flowering.
The contrast between the flowers and leaves of the plant is almost invisible, since large and shiny leaves have a very light green color.
The bushes are erect, vigorous, have high decorative qualities. Height can reach 1 m 20 cm.
Rose has a very delicate, barely noticeable aroma.
Care
Rose Empress Farah is absolutely unpretentious in the care, despite the fact that she is a unique plant. The variety is winter-hardy and resistant to disease. The decorativeness of the rose is preserved both in the form of a bud and a fully bloomed flower.
