Its technical characteristics are so good that the tool allows you to reliably protect the structure and thereby extend its service life.
Main characteristics
Primer FL-03K has a high anti-corrosion property. It is resistant to various atmospheric phenomena (snow, sun, rain and so on). It is allowed to use the product in a wide temperature range (from minus 60 to plus 100 degrees). In this case, sudden changes are not afraid of the treated surface.
Resistant to oil. It is not subject to the destructive action of salts. Due to this, the soil can be used in shipbuilding.
The composition is brown. After application and drying, a uniform matte film forms on the surface. It takes up to 8 hours to dry. Duration depends on temperature and humidity.
Quality and compliance with the required standards are confirmed by the certificate. Primer FL-03K approved by the Office of the Federal Service of Rospotrebnadzor. The hygienic report issued in St. Petersburg is valid throughout Russia. It confirms that the product is manufactured in accordance with the developed GOSTs, and its quality corresponds to sanitary and epidemiological regulatory documents. Application area
Primer FL-03K (GOST 9109-81) belongs to the class of epoxy. It is made on the basis of synthetic resins. The composition also includes special additives that accelerate the drying process of the product. All this allows the use of a primer to protect metal products from corrosion. It can be ferrous and non-ferrous metals (copper, aluminum, titanium and their alloys).
The composition can also be used for processing wooden structures, including a variety of boards made of lumber. Similarly, treated surfaces can be further processed with paints (such as FL, PF, AC, and so on).
Consumption
Primer FL-03K is applied to the treated surface in several layers. Depending on the application method, the thickness of each layer is in the range of 15-20 mm. The thickness is also influenced by the viscosity of the composition (degree of dilution) and the condition of the surface being treated (for rougher surfaces, the layer is thicker). With this in mind, the average consumption is 40-55 grams per square meter of treated surface. Thus, one liter of soil can process up to 30 square meters of structures.
Consumption may increase if the surface being machined is in a vertical position. After applying the soil in several layers, the use of paint is not necessary. But it is worth noting that leaving the soil without a topcoat for a long time is not recommended.
Preparatory work
Before use, the primer FL-03K and the surface to be treated must be prepared.
Surface preparation consists in cleaning it from contamination, rust, residues of the old coating. After that, it must be degreased. If the surface is wooden, it must be sanded and cleaned of dust.
Preparation of the composition begins only if its temperature is in the range of 15-25 degrees. The FL-03K primer must be thoroughly mixed throughout the entire volume of the container (until a homogeneous mass is obtained). Further, the product must be mixed with desiccant (linoleate NF-1). The amount of desiccant should not exceed 4% of the total volume. The soil is thoroughly mixed. From this moment, the shelf life of the composition does not exceed 12 hours (at a temperature of plus 20 degrees).
The last step is to add a solvent (if necessary).
Combination with solvents
Before use, dilution of the primer FL-03K to the desired consistency is allowed. It is necessary to ensure that the amount of added solvent is not more than 20% of the total soil volume.
A mixture of white spirit and xylene is used as a solvent. These substances are interconnected in equal proportions. It is allowed to use diluent type RE-4V. This option is suitable in cases where the composition is applied by electric spray.
Solvents are also used to clean tools and containers. It can be xylene or solvent. It is permissible to use a mixture of them with white spirit.
Application of the composition
The use of the FL-03K primer is permissible only at an ambient temperature of 5 to 30 degrees and an air humidity of not more than 85%. In this case, the temperature of the surface itself should be at least 3 degrees above the dew point. In the event of precipitation, the use of soil is unacceptable.
The primer is applied in several ways:
- Spraying in the absence of air through a nozzle with a diameter of 0.28-0.43 mm. The primer is sprayed from a distance of 30-50 cm from the surface. In this case, the supply pressure of the composition should not be lower than 13MPa.
- Pneumatic spraying.
- Dousing.
- Dipping.
- Roller (brush). This method is suitable in cases where it is necessary to process a small surface area.
The composition is applied in such a way that, after drying, there are no unpainted spots and areas on the surface, and no sag. The primer is applied in several layers. Usually 1-2 is enough.
The surface treated with the primer FL-03 can be coated with enamels and paints on various bases (oil, alkyd, bitumen, phenolic). When using other formulations, a compatibility test must first be carried out. This applies to materials on urethane, epoxy and other substrates.
Within six months after applying the primer, exposure to the primed surface is allowed without further processing. If the period is longer, before painting the surface should be cleaned of dirt, grease (oil), etc. If necessary, the base is sanded with an abrasive cloth to roughen.
Storage and transportation
The primer FL-03K is transported in factory packaging, hermetically packed. Storage is also allowed only in tightly closed containers. In storage places should not be direct sunlight and other sources of high temperatures. The storage location must be dry. The tool retains its properties when stored in the temperature range from minus 40 to plus 40 degrees. Subject to all the conditions, it is allowed to store the composition for up to six months.
Safety precautions
As already noted, the composition of the primer FL-03K includes epoxy resins and volatile substances. Therefore, the composition belongs to the class of flammable. This leaves its mark on the conditions of use and work with the soil. In the process of working with the substance, the established fire safety rules must be observed. At the same time, it is necessary to observe personal safety conditions, work with the use of personal protective equipment (gloves, respirator).
In the room where the work is carried out, good ventilation must be provided. In case of its absence, provide ventilation. At the end of work, the room should be thoroughly ventilated (at least 24 hours).
It is forbidden to work with the primer FL-03K near open sources of fire, welding, and similar sparking devices. Failure to do so may result in fire and fire.
It should be remembered that the primer FL-03K is absolutely safe in dry form. This means that after the treated surface has completely dried, the threat to health does not threaten and does not have a harmful effect on the body.
