Many tourists come to Crimea annually. Some of them are only interested in beaches. But active and curious people fall under the charm of the nature of the peninsula and want to see as many unique places as possible. One of the most picturesque pearls of Crimea is considered the Su-Uchkhan waterfall. Not only excursion groups come here, but also lone savages and local residents. How to get to the waterfall and what else can be seen in these places? This will be our story.
Dogwood Coba Valley
If you go along the Simferopol-Alushta highway, then in the foothills of Dolgorukovskaya Yayla (as one of the mountain ranges in the main ridge of the Crimean Mountains is called) you can get into the Kizil-Koba valley. This is a unique place with a special energy and microclimate. The name was given to the valley by the famous Red Cave, in translation from the Turkic language it sounds like that - “Kizil-Koba”. Not far from the cave, about a 20-minute walk, there is a Tufa Glade, on which there is a unique Su-Uchkhan waterfall.
The Kizil-Koba tract is a real place of pilgrimage for tourists. One of the largest Eastern European caves and a full-flowing waterfall tickle your nerves and delight visitors. People come here not only for vivid impressions, but also to be charged with the positive energy that pervades this place.
First about the waterfall
Waterfall Su-Uchkhan (Crimea) is not very far from the village of Perevalnoye. There you can walk on foot for 30 calm steps from Krasnopescherny. The road does not go directly to the waterfall, but a little further to the Red Cave. But so that tourists do not get lost, there are signs on the road. And yet, if this is your first time going to see the Su-Uchkhan waterfall, how to get there is better to check with knowledgeable people. Or, if possible, take a guide.
The waterfall is formed by the waters of the Kizilkobinka River, which makes its way through the bowels of the Dolgorukovskaya Yayla. The same river worked on the creation of the Red Cave, which will be discussed a little later. The height of the water fall is 25 meters. The top point of the waterfall is called the Tuff pad. Tearing down, the water does not go in a continuous stream, but forms many cascades, large and small whirlpools and streams of different density.
The supernatural power of nature
Su-Uchkhan waterfall fascinates with its beauty. But sensitive people argue that it is not only a matter of beauty. We have already talked about the fact that this place is permeated with positive energy. The sensation is created due to the fact that deep underground Kizilkobinka passes through the points of tectonic faults, which gives the water special properties. Many psychics and healers come here to wash away the negative energy associated with their work in the waters of Su-Uchkhan.
And also near the waterfall you can see the monogram of Christ. It is not known who left it on the stone, but many pilgrims go to this place for Epiphany to plunge into the natural font.
Sources and baths of youth
A little hollow formed constantly below the waterfall, constantly filled with water. Many people call this place the "bathroom of youth." The water temperature in the natural pool does not rise above 9 ° C. However, cold water does not freeze even in frosty winters. The water in this bath is also in those periods when the waterfall itself has dried up or froze, since there is a mountain source under the natural depression.
Behind the waterfall a small beautiful grotto is visible. If desired, you can look into the stone recess. And above the waterfall, somewhat to the right of it, two sources were discovered. They hit from under one stone, but have water of different chemical composition. Surprisingly, the temperature in the sources is also different. The people call this miracle "living and dead water."
Crimean Tatar names
Su-Uchhan Waterfall has always been popular. The memory of the people has preserved many names that were given to this place. Crimean Tatars called Sutyshkan and Subotkan waterfalls, which means “soaring river”, “master of three waters” and “water from three lords”.
A bit about the Red Cave
As you already understood, the Red Caves, Su-Uchkhan waterfall, youth baths and fabulous sources - all this is the work of the indefatigable Kizilkobinka. It is very difficult to talk about the Red Cave in a few words. After all, we are talking about the most visited attractions of the peninsula. This is a real underground kingdom, stretching underground for more than 25 km. Fairytale mazes lead to the magic halls. Narrow aisles lead to secret niches and grottoes.
The cave has been studied in detail. It consists of 6 tiers, in which there are places of different heights. The walls of the cave are composed of limestone, but they have a high content of iron oxide. It was this component that gave the cave a reddish tint, which was reflected in its name.
Since it is easy to get lost in natural winding and branched passages, you can get inside only with a guided tour. The route is short, only half a kilometer, but completely safe. It even has lighting. The red cave is worth a visit, because to get such a vivid impression in another place is simply impossible!
