But this does not help to avoid a half-starved existence, and Antonio will gradually go into debt.
Watching his parents, Vito quickly understood the main truth - honest work will not make you rich. In addition, a big impression on the little Sicilian was made by tough guys who were not afraid of either death or the law, scattering money to the right and left. Vito Scaletta always wanted to be like them.
When the main character grew up a bit, he, together with his friend Joe, decides to rob the bank. But the attempt is unsuccessful, and Vito is detained by the police. Instead of going to prison, the protagonist chooses to send him to the front as a punishment, where he serves until the time of injury. Arriving on a visit, Vito meets his childhood friend Joe Barbaro, who helps the protagonist to first get rid of the army, and then brings him to the right people, offering “dust-free” work for good money. So Vito gets into the gangster environment, which is the basis of the game "Mafia 2". Characters, which will be discussed later, play an important role in the life of the main thing, and their presence is the main element of the plot.
Best Friend - Joe Barbaro
This laziness from childhood was a loyal friend of Vito Scaletta. While the main character was serving his sentence at the front, Joe made a career of a petty bully and made acquaintances with local gangsters. It was this character who helped Scalett "get away" from the army and introduced him to the course of mafia affairs. Throughout the game, Joe will be the main partner and accomplice of the protagonist in all his crimes.
Mentor and role model
The role of a gangster teacher was taken by Henry Tomasino. Unlike the “new arrivals” Vito and Joe, this person is already a member of the Mafia clan of the Clemente family. It is not clear what interested these gangsters of such a high rank among gangsters of such high rank. Perhaps they are connected by childhood friendship, or there are some other reasons for this.

But as mentioned earlier, the move did not bring her happiness. For the rest of her life, Maria watched her husband, Antonio, break down and get drunk under the yoke of overwork. In addition, Mrs. Scaletta is very sad that her son is turning into a felon. After the death of Antonio, this woman lives in the same room with her daughter, which will be discussed later.
Another female character in the game, with whom the main character is associated with reverent family ties, is Francesca Scaletta. The elder sister of the protagonist is very worried about her brother and is trying to persuade him to leave the criminal path. This quiet and shy woman will not turn away from Vito, even when he goes to jail. And she will look after their mother until her death.
Minor Characters
Throughout the game, Vito has to communicate with many large and small mafiosi. First of all, we are talking about Eduardo Scarpa - an adviser to the Falconet clan. With this person, the main character will often communicate. And this sarcastic and cold personality plays an important role in the plot of the game "Mafia 2".
The characters worth mentioning are Alberto Clemente, Carlo Falcone, Leon Galante, Lucas Gurino, Franco Vinci. These individuals occupy high positions in the Sicilian mafia, and some of them will become friends of Vito Scaletta. The main character will kill others along the way to his success among the gangsters. In addition, you will meet such heroes as Federico Pappalardo, Stephen Coyne, Antonio Balsamo, Brian O'Neill, Martin Santorelli and many others, while playing the game "Mafia 2".
