Lineage 2: subclass quest

As you know, Lineage 2 is constantly evolving and changing. Some updates only partially affect game mechanics, while others turn everything upside down. It often happens that developers either completely redo quests, or even delete them altogether, forcing players to rack their brains. This fate has repeatedly befell the quest for the sub, to which this article is devoted. You will learn how this task has changed in different chronicles and how this influenced its passage.

Why do I need a subclass?

The subclass is a special mechanic that allows your character to learn a new profession in parallel with the main one. At the same time, the appearance and nickname of the hero remain unchanged, and only the set of his skills changes. You can optionally switch between the main and sub-classes at any time, spending a little time on this.

Sub Class Switch

Thanks to this mechanic, your hero will be able to master even those professions that are not initially available to his race. For example, gnomes who cannot be magicians and archers can easily become them in a subclass. Some restrictions, however, still exist. So, you will not be able to master the profession of dark elves, playing for the light, and, accordingly, vice versa.

Another plus of the sub-class is that its development begins at level 40. Simply put, you will not need to pump every new profession from the very beginning. By the way, completing the subclass quest once, you can take up to three additional professions. All of them will be equivalent to each other and are available for change at any time.

Sub class quests

As you probably already understood, the sub-class is one of the main mechanics of Lineage 2. Therefore, to get it, you need to complete a difficult quest. Rather, a chain consisting of several tasks. For example, up to the Grace Final update, including the Interlude chronicles, the subclass quest was divided into three parts:

  • "Arrogant search."
  • "Whisper of fate."
  • "Elixir of Mimira."

The first part is the so-called pass to the epic raid boss Baium. True, later (in Gracia Final) this task was abolished, but still it is worth considering.

Presumptuous search

So, in order to perform the “Arrogant Search,” you need to do the following:

  • Reaching level 60, head to Aden. Visit the Dark Elf Guild and speak with Hanelin.
  • Go to the Cave of the Giants and kill there the Mages and the Tetrarchs of the Younger Giants. You need to knock out the Giants Machine from them.
  • Take the received item to Chanelin. She, in turn, will give you three letters.
  • Now head to Claudia Athebalt (Aden, north entrance) and talk to her.
  • Teleport to the graveyard and talk to the quest chest. Kill the Keeper and open the chest with the key you received.
  • Fly to Giran to speak with Martien. Move to Tanor Canyon and open the chest, killing the Guardian.
  • Next, head to the Dark Elf Village. Here you need to talk with Harn.

  • Run south from the Village. You will find the body of the Guardian, which should be examined. An Assassin of Angels will appear and, as you might guess, you need to kill him. Inspect the Keeper's corpse again and open the chest with the key you received.
  • Return to Chanelin in Aden. She will ask you to buy the Potion of Healing and Antidote in the nearest shop. Do this and talk again with the dark elf who will give you a white canvas.
  • Fly to the Tower of Insolence, rise to the 7th floor and start beating the Shamans and Lords of the Platinum Clan with your fists. After some time, the canvas issued to you by Hanelin will turn red.

This is the end of the quest, since the red "rag" is a pass to Baium.

Whispers of fate

The next task in the chain of quests for the sub is "Whisper of Fate." It is done like this:

  • Go to Meadows of Heavenly Shadow and find there a gnome named Reorin.
  • After that, move to the Aden Cemetery and kill the Shilen Cabrio Messenger. At the same time, you do not have to personally defeat the boss, but rather give him at least one blow and wait until others kill him.
  • Inspect the chest that appeared on the site of the monster and take the Reina Soul Orb from it.
  • Talk to Reorin again. He will ask you to visit the Tower of Insolence and kill three bosses there. The monsters you need can be found on the 3rd, 8th and 11th floors.
  • After defeating all three bosses, return to Reorin and present him items received from the bodies of monsters.
  • Next, you will visit several cities, talk with different NPCs and get quest items from them. Just follow the signpost and be sure not to get lost.
  • Having collected everything you need, go to the Hardin Academy and talk with Caspar. He will ask you to pay a visit to Baium.

  • Fly to the Tower of Insolence, wait for the entrance to Baium to open, and hit it at least once with the quest dagger.

Now go back to Reorin. He will ask you for 984 Grade B Crystals and a B-grade weapon, and in return will give the corresponding Grade A weapons. On this, the next part of the sub-quest in Lineage 2 can be considered completed.

Elixir of Mimira

The essence of this quest is to make a magic elixir. This is a very difficult task, and it is performed as follows:

  • Visit the Ivory Tower and talk with Ladd (4th floor). He will give you a list of ingredients that can either be bought from other players, or obtained on the instructions of the “Reagent Provider”.

  • After collecting all the ingredients, fly to the lower floor of the Ivory Tower and use the Alchemical Mortar. For all subsequent recipes, only the first temperature should be selected.
  • Combine 10 times with 10 Moonstone Shards and 1 Volcano Ash. Get 10 units of Moondust.
  • Mix 10 Moondust and 1 Mercury. Get the Moonstone.
  • Mix 1 Moonstone and 1 Mercury. Get Pure Silver. This item must be taken to Ladd.
  • After talking with Ladd, find Joan in the Tower (3rd floor) and talk to her.
  • Fly to the Valley of Silence and kill the Shards of Illusion. You need to knock out the Stone of Wisdom, and then take it to Joan. She will give you True Gold for this.
  • Now again talk with Ladd, who will send you to the Tomb of the Ranger. Kill the Blood Guard until you drop the Blood Flame.

Return to the Ivory Tower and use the Alchemical Mortar. Mix all the ingredients obtained from the quest and get Elimir Mimira. Take the potion to Ladd and you can take the subclass.

Changes in Gracia and Freya

As mentioned earlier, in subsequent updates to Lineage 2, the sub quest has undergone some changes. More specifically:

  • The Gracia Final update made it possible to not visit Bayum on the instructions of “Whisper of Fate”. Instead, it’s enough to kill a certain number of monsters in the Tower of Insolence. Accordingly, the quest "Arrogant Search" has ceased to be mandatory for obtaining a sub-class.
Baium is no longer needed
  • In the same Gracia Final, they added an exchange of 100 Land Tokens for activation of a subclass without the need to complete quests.
  • In the Freya update, Reorin changed his location. All of it can also be found in Meadows of Heavenly Shadow, but it is better to use the / target Reorin command for this.

In subsequent High Five chronicles, the sub quest remained unchanged. However, then a series of updates from the Goddess of Destruction cycle began, which changed everything radically.

Chronicles of Glory Days

With the release of the Glory Days update, a new subclass quest was added, and all the previous ones, respectively, became no longer needed, and they were simply deleted. The new task was called "The Red Thread of Fate", and its meaning is to travel to different locations and talk with several NPCs.

In addition, now the right to have a subclass was open only to heroes who have undergone Rebirth. Simply put, to use this mechanic, you need to reach at least level 85.

Free class sub class

For completeness, it is worth mentioning the private Lineage 2 servers or, as they are also called, free shards. The fact is that administrators of "freezes" can configure quests at their discretion, and therefore the conditions for obtaining a sub-class can significantly differ from the original.

getting a sub class

For example, on the Asterios servers, the sub quest is completely identical to what is in the official version of Lineage 2. But on other free shards, admins often add the ability to get a sub class for game currency, which greatly facilitates the development of characters.
