At the same time, he, as an inquisitive and sociable person, can tell a lot about the properties of various artifacts.
In "Call of Pripyat" the stalker moved to the Yanov station - he is in the half, controlled by the Freedom group. At the first meeting, he treats the main character Major Degtyarev with a can of stew, and at the same time asks for help - definitely not worth refusing.
What tasks gives
In "Clear Skies" Uncle Yar gives the task of finding 3 flash drives with important information. It is part of the Find Improvement quest to search for media with weapon improvement data. The hero of the article is an expert on sniper rifles. For execution, you can get the coordinates of two caches and a decent cash reward.
If you talk with the stalker at night (after 23.00), he will give the task of finding a missing friend. Having completed the task, Scar receives 2000 rubles.
In "Call of Pripyat" Uncle Yar asks for help - they want to kill five mercenaries, whose conversation he accidentally overheard. If you help him kill the entire squad, you can get not only 6,000 rubles, but the coordinates of a rich cache.
To cope with the task is easy if the arsenal has a powerful sniper rifle. You can shoot the enemy from a decent distance, sitting on the roof of the attic. Therefore, even the fact that the enemy has a numerical advantage, good weapons and armor (two dressed up in exoskeletons) does not cause serious problems.

In the second part of the trilogy, Uncle Yar speaks Ukrainian. And in the third - in pure Russian. Only occasionally can you notice a slight accent.
