Drywall

It is unlikely that anyone will disagree with the fact that drywall is one of the most popular building materials. Repair and interior decoration of premises with its help is a universal phenomenon. This environmentally friendly, fire-resistant, energy-saving material is widely used in creating a modern interior, embodying the most intricate fantasies of people.

Drywall - a composite material from a gypsum core with technical foam, lined with cardboard on the outside. Gypsum passes air well, maintaining a constant humidity regime in the room. The material is completely non-combustible, non-radioactive, non-toxic, has low thermal conductivity and high sound insulation, is convenient to use, with its help you can create a fantasy curved surface or β€œdrape” a winding one. It is used to make decorative partitions, window slopes, arches, multi-level ceilings, sheathe attics and sew up utilities.

Drywall finishing of slopes can be done in two ways. In one case, with a glue solution, the material is glued directly to the walls. In the second (if the irregularities are too large or you need to reduce the opening), the sheets are attached to the metal frame with self-tapping screws. Then - treatment with an antifungal primer, puttying, stripping, painting. Thin plastic can be glued onto drywall. By the way, a moisture-resistant variety should be used to finish the slopes. Drywall decoration is good in that the slopes are repairable - if you scratch a piece, it breaks off, you can always putty and paint it over.

Alignment and finishing with drywall walls is performed in the same way as slopes.

Along with the metal frame, you can use wooden blocks. There are several points worth noting. To perform the internal corner, the sheet is installed in place, according to the ruler, cardboard is marked and cut on the side facing the wall. Then the sheet is bent in an angle so that it does not break, and is fixed.

For facing external corners, a triangular groove is cut out from the inside of the sheet and the sheet is bent along the facing corner. Protect corners from damage by paint corners. Seams at the joints of sheets are sealed with gypsum mastic, and to keep it better, wooden slats are coated with liquid mastic. Then a mesh or gauze is glued to the seam, and it is puttied to the level of the sheet for further decoration. A perfectly flat surface of drywall sheets is suitable for any decoration: painting, wallpaper stickers, tiling, decorative plaster.

From gypsum board, it is quite easy to assemble a prefabricated frame partition or decorative with niches, arches or in several levels.

Drywall decoration of ceilings, especially multi-level ones, is certainly more difficult than wall decoration. But how much it diversifies your interior, makes it individual and unique! In such a ceiling, it is easy to install spotlights that add expressiveness and give additional lighting wherever intended. If very high ceilings - it is easy to lower them to a comfortable level.

Plasterboard decoration of doorways in the form of arches, semi-arches with niches and decorative ledges will make your home irresistible.

It is convenient to place or hide plumbing, an electrician, low-voltage communications and everything that bothers you under drywall.

Not so scary, as it seems at first glance, the interior decoration with drywall do it yourself. Carefully read the advice of specialists and people who have done a similar job, rethink, accurately imagine what you want, pick up a tool and partner (with large sheets it is easier to work together), carefully measure the size - and go. Necessary tools: screwdriver, puncher, jigsaw, hammer, screwdriver, level of at least two meters, chopping thread, hacksaw, knife and square. His work is much cheaper, quality can be on top, will bring moral satisfaction and joy of creativity.
