One of the most common drawbacks of knitted indoor slippers is the quick wear of the sole. No matter what coating the floors in the house are equipped with, after a month or two, rubbed areas appear. As a result, the sole has to be changed or get rid of slippers at all. Slippers on felt soles are a great way out. They are crocheted quite simply, you just need to find the right materials.
What to use for the sole
Simple felt insoles serve well as a sturdy base for indoor shoes. They can be bought almost anywhere, especially in winter.
Another option is to buy felt and cut out the sole of the right size from it. This method is convenient if you need to immediately produce several pairs, since the cost of buying a sheet of felt exceeds the cost of insoles.
Attaching slippers to the sole
Some craftswomen prefer to reduce the amount of work for themselves and to impose slippers directly on the sole. To do this, holes should be made in the felt. This is best achieved with a device for working with leather products. Sometimes an awl helps, but such holes are not large enough.
It is required to choose a suitable diameter of the holes and make them at a distance of one or one and a half centimeters from each other. This distance depends on the thickness of the yarn used: the thinner it is, the closer the holes should be.
If there is no special device, you can get out of the situation by performing a buttonhole stitch along the edge of the sole (in this case, the first row will consist of single crochet stitches sewn into arches formed by a buttonhole stitch).
