Tomsk Botanical Garden is located on the territory of Tomsk State University. It is a unique complex for the northern region. Its funds include more than 6,000 species of plants, including 500 rare and endangered.

History of creation and development
Tomsk State University is the first Russian university in Siberia, opened in 1878. Already in 1875, when the construction of TSU was just beginning, a place was allocated for the botanical garden in the project. Tomsk is located on the border of the West Siberian Plain, the climate here is harsh, which required especially careful approach to the construction of greenhouses, nurseries and greenhouses. The garden was completed only in 1885. Then he had an area of 1.7 hectares, had a greenhouse with an area of 93 square meters. m and a huge 3-section greenhouse, whose area was 473 square meters. m and a height of 4 meters.
