Ecowool: disadvantages and positive qualities

ecowool shortcomings
Recent years have been marked by a huge leap in the development of construction technologies. New materials appeared, and ways to develop existing ones were also improved. If we talk about their relatively new samples, then almost any professional builder used ecowool, the shortcomings and positive features of which we will discuss today.

It is known that any material used in construction has its weaknesses. For example, in our case, these include poor compressive strength, which is why ecowool, the shortcomings of which we are considering today, cannot be used as a basis for plastering or for floating floors. That is why its use involves the installation of a conventional skeleton frame.

In a way, the lack of this material can be considered its increased hygroscopicity (absorbency). In no case should you use it where it can have direct contact with moisture from the environment. In particular, when warming the basement of a building, it is necessary to make high-quality waterproofing. Otherwise, ecowool (the shortcomings of which we are discussing) will quickly become saturated with moisture and will contribute to the destruction of the foundation when it freezes in winter. For the same reason, in those places where there is such a heater, you can not make through ventilation holes.

insulation of houses ecowool

Despite this, there are many situations where ecowool can be used. Its disadvantages in such cases are successfully outweighed by a considerable number of advantages. In particular, with it, builders can make seamless layers of thermal insulation that can reduce heat loss to almost zero. In addition, in the summer, this design is much more efficient in keeping the cool indoors.

The same property of the material greatly simplifies the task of creating a thermal insulation layer in hard-to-reach places, allowing you not to think about creating reliable fasteners. Among other things, the insulation of houses with ecowool is good because there is no need to buy additional material for noise insulation, since its sound absorption coefficient is almost an order of magnitude higher than that of any mineral wool.

ecowool insulation
As follows from the prefix "eco", this cotton wool is good for its complete environmental cleanliness and safety for the health of those people who live in a house insulated with this material. In particular, even if the family has allergies, they can comfortably live in such a house for years without experiencing the slightest health problems. Given its unique ability to selectively heat transfer, you will get a room in which even those who suffer from bronchial asthma or other diseases of the respiratory system will easily breathe.

The technologists who invented ecowool added boric acid to its composition. Because of this, fungus or mold will never appear on it, and rodents will avoid building nests in its thickness. The hygroscopicity described above is (as we said) a conditional disadvantage, since it prevents the formation of condensate on internal structures, saving them from decay and corrosion.

Thus, ecowool insulation has many more positive features than disadvantages, without which no building material can do.
