Given the desire of buyers to get the most information, manufacturers have developed a special system of symbols that are applied either to shoe labels or to packaging. They help the buyer not to make a mistake and choose the most suitable pair. The system of signs on shoes is regulated by GOSTs and is the same for all manufacturers. Therefore, it is extremely important for the buyer to be able to decipher these signs.
All designations on shoes are divided into several groups. These are characters that indicate:
- the part of the boot in question;
- the material of which it is made;
- the presence of special properties (heat or moisture resistance, increased depreciation, insulated composition, etc.).
A special alphabetic designation system for completeness is also adopted.
Location symbols
There are 3 main signs that indicate part of the shoe. They are called location. The image of the boot with the arrow pointing down indicates the toe of the shoe. The same boot with the pointer up - the sole. And the double arrow placed inside the boot indicates the lining of the shoe and the insole.
These thumbnails are commonly used along with symbols indicating what the pair was made of. That is, in front of each location designation, a material icon is affixed. Such a system is very convenient for the buyer.
Shoe material designation
There are 4 signs telling about which raw material a particular pair was made of. The image of the animal’s skin indicates that this model, or some part of it, is made of genuine leather. If a rhombus is placed inside such a symbol, then spraying was used.
Textile materials are indicated by a square, as if woven from threads. And finally, all other types of raw materials, including rubber, plastic and wood, will be presented in the form of a rhombus.
Special symbols
Sometimes, in addition to material icons, the manufacturer places unusual images on the box or label that inform the buyer about the special properties of the purchased pair. So, the designation on the shoe in the form of a snowflake over the boot symbolizes the insulated model, designed for the cold season.
If fire is placed above the boot, the buyer can expect that the sole of this pair is heat-resistant. Moisture-resistant model will be marked with a drop icon over the boot. The path under the boot indicates shoes with increased cushioning.
Completeness of the model
Also the most requested information is the volume of shoes. With the same foot length, that is, size, fullness can vary quite significantly. For this reason, some models do not sit well on the foot. Various symbols are used to indicate the completeness of shoes, but the English marking system, for which the Latin alphabet is used, is the most widespread. For normal legs, the letter designation "F" is used. If the foot is already normal, you should pick up a pair with the sign "E". “G” and “H” indicate a large and full leg.
