Allergic reactions in pets are far from uncommon. Most often, cats and dogs of artificially bred or exotic breeds are exposed to them. This is due to the fact that they have weak immunity, and the body is not able to cope with toxins.

A cat’s food allergy is much more common. This may be a reaction to special prepared foods and canned food, or even to natural products. Most often, the animal's proteins (meat, eggs, milk), but sometimes of plant origin (cereals) act as an allergen.
Unfortunately, identifying the causes of the disease state of our pet in such situations is not easy on its own. This will take time, since finally three months can be removed from the body of the animal. Almost all cats have a negative reaction to citrus fruits. Although it is also found in other pets.
An allergy in a cat can occur as follows:
- irritations appear on the skin of the animal, it constantly itches and rubs against various objects;
- sores, red spots and scratches may appear;
- wool begins to fall out;
- there is an indigestion;
- there is a peeling and an itch;
- the cat begins to sneeze, eyes may swell.
The following reactions can be a particularly dangerous manifestation of allergies:
- Quincke's edema, which usually occurs with insect bites. Initially, burning appears around the eyes, ears and mouth. Then a rash can begin, and only after that the animal begins to swell. In this situation, the pet needs urgent medical attention, otherwise it may die;
- Anaphylactic shock manifests itself much faster. An animal can lose consciousness immediately after insect vinegar or drug administration. Heart failures also begin. The cat needs to be resuscitated immediately. At home, it is impossible to save the animal.
An allergy in a cat can occur at any time. A reaction is even possible for foods that used to be the main diet. In any case, you should not engage in treatment yourself, since similar symptoms can occur in other diseases.
If the cause of the ailment is food, then for the purpose of prevention it is necessary to arrange a pet course of a hypoallergenic diet (at least a month). Any store for cats in this situation can offer special food.
