The hero was born in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Initially, the character is a simple lieutenant of the Marine Corps, who serves in Asia. During a military operation, the pilot gets stuck in the jungle, as his aircraft are shot down by enemy troops. After that, the hero falls into the rear of the enemy. Soon, the Warrior meets Iron Man, who tells him his story of the escape from the enemy Wong Chu camp. Together against the soldiers, Rowdy and Iron Man find out that there is an enemy missile base nearby. They destroy her and return to their associates. Rhodes is sent to a field hospital in Saigon. Stark arrives there in order to thank the hero for his help and to offer him a job as a personal pilot. Rowdy continues to participate in the Vietnam War, but after it ends, he accepts Stark’s invitation and becomes his personal pilot, close friend and aviation manager at Stark's International.

Due to the unlawful actions of the famous villain Obaday Stein, Tony Stark’s company is gaining large debts and losing international relations. Unexpected problems at work and failures in his personal life lead to the fact that Stark begins to abuse alcoholic cocktails. In the next episode, Magma defeats the drunk Tony, forcing Rhodes to wear the Iron Man costume to destroy Magma. After a while, Stark himself asks our hero to become the new Iron Man. The cause of the headaches is Rowdy's self-flagellation because he is not worthy to wear Iron Man's armor. At this time, Stein undermines Circuits Maximus.
