Children's rights at school

The Constitution says that our children (and ourselves) have the right to free education. It sounds good, but it is worth noting that many have serious problems with educational institutions. Experienced parents are well aware that teachers and school administrators often violate children's rights, put pressure on them, and so on. Protecting the rights of children in school is a must. It is important that the individual is not infringed on where he receives knowledge.

Children's rights at school

The child, along with his parents, has the right to choose an educational institution, as well as the program according to which he will be taught. He has the right to an education that meets the standards adopted in the country. At school, he should not be exposed to any danger, teachers should not exert pressure on him, and they are simply obliged to ensure that someone else does not exert this pressure.

The principle of respect for human dignity is what all school staff must be guided by. The learning process should be carried out only on a modern material basis. The child has the right to use books from the school library fund. School staff can not choose who to give good copies of books and textbooks, and to whom the bad.

Children have the right to receive additional services, which can be both free and paid. They can count on psychological and pedagogical, as well as on social and pedagogical help in a difficult educational or life situation.

The rights of the child at school include the right to choose the language to study (if alternatives are available). Basic training should be carried out in the native language of the individual.

Adolescents over 15 years old have the right not to continue their education (consent of parents or legal guardians is necessary).

The rights of the child in school imply the possibility of the participation of children in the mediated or unmediated management of the institution. In this case, it is determined by the Charter of the educational institution. It should be available for review.

Attending leisure activities, expressing one’s own opinion is also a child’s rights at school.

Parents may require that an educational institution be tested for compliance with one or another state standard. It is not only about standards of instruction, but also nutrition, hygiene, and so on.

Respecting and protecting the rights of children is important, but do not forget that the school must maintain discipline. Its significance is great, however, do not forget that when you bring it over no one’s rights should be infringed, no one’s dignity should be harmed. Mental and physical violence are unacceptable ways to restore order.

Mental violence refers to threats, isolation from society, humiliation of an individual, an insult to her dignity, a negative characteristic (especially if it is not substantiated by anything), a demonstrative negative attitude, and so on.

The situation with the rights of the child in school today is difficult. The fact is that in some countries parents are only thinking about how to sue an educational institution. They can go to court for any reason. What is the result? Schools lose financial resources that they could spend on their development, and their staff begins to leave unpunished even serious tricks of children.

The rights of children in school must be protected, but do not go too far, as this can adversely affect the learning process. We advise you to be careful, as only attentiveness will help determine the situation that really requires immediate intervention.
