Wild cat in your house

It is tempting to imagine that a real wild cat can live in your home. But it is still not worth it to start a lion or a tiger in an apartment, because their aggression is not always amenable to control. A growing predator will certainly begin to check "who is the boss in the house, a person or a cat." And yet, if you really want to see a graceful and powerful feline animal next to you, what should I do? Savannah cats will give you this opportunity. They were bred in order to get a home version of the wild beast.

Outwardly, the Savannah cat looks impressive: spotted like a leopard, leggy, with big ears ... Of the domestic cats, Savannah is the largest cat in the world; the weight is fifteen kilograms, and the height at the withers is up to sixty centimeters (the females are slightly lower and lighter). The fact is that Savannah is not a breed at all, it is a hybrid between a large domestic cat and a wild African serval cat. Since hybrid cats are sterile, breeding Savannah is not an easy task and it is impossible to get kittens at home without losing their “wild” qualities. The nature of these cats, of course, is less aggressive than that of the African wild ancestor. But, according to the stories of the owners, their hunting instincts are strongly expressed, and the cats involuntarily rush to any sudden movement. Savannahs require a lot of free space, as they are very active and playful. They are thermophilic (origin is affected) and, oddly enough, quickly learn to walk on a leash. It is worth noting that such a wild cat is an expensive pleasure and costs an equally good car.

Another, almost wild cat, Maine Coon breeds, is much more accessible and easier to maintain. This breed (bred about a hundred years ago) is now very popular, although not yet widespread. Maine Coons share the title of the largest domestic cat with Savannah, their sizes are approximately the same, but these breeds look completely different. Maine Coon cats have a strong and muscular physique, a large head, long and fluffy hair with a noticeable “collar” and tassels on the ears. The appearance of these cats is very reminiscent of a lynx, although in fact they are not related to her. Maine Coons come from forest cats. The breed was bred in Maine. There, these cats lived on farms and were valued for their endurance, unpretentiousness and excellent catching of rats. Maine Coon is translated as "Manx raccoon", so they were nicknamed for the thick fluffy tail, similar to the raccoon tail. A cat of this breed, although it looks just like a wild cat, but its disposition is flexible and quite friendly, it gets along well with children and dogs. Some owners describe the nature of their pets as calm, they say that Maine Coons are neat, but not too active and like to sleep. Others consider them cheerful, playful and temperamental. Probably, different Maine Coon cats (like any domestic cat) have their own unique character. .Another these cats have an unusual voice. They do not meow, but make short “gurgling” and rather pleasant sounds.

In general, I wonder how much the cat weighs , the largest in the world and the smallest?

The smallest feline is Singapore's cat. This natural domesticated breed weighs about two to three kilograms.

And the largest weight has an ordinary purebred cat from the UK. Caring owners fed their favorite up to nineteen kilograms.

The largest wild cat in the world is, of course, a tiger, and the extinct saber-toothed tigers were even larger than the living ones. But the largest cat in the world itself (but not quite wild) is Liger. This animal is not found in nature, it lives only in the zoo. Like this? It’s just that Liger is a work of a lion and a tigress obtained at the zoo, but these animals do not cross in the wild. Ligers weigh up to 400 kg. Surprisingly, Ligrica can bear cubs, although interspecific hybrids are generally infertile.

Are our ordinary purebred cats very different from those living in nature? Homeless “pussies” often become completely wild animals. After all, a cat has never been completely domestic. Coexisting with a person, a cat has been walking “on its own” for many centuries.
