Seedless grape varieties, which are very popular among gardeners, have been grown since ancient times. Each year, breeders successfully bred new varieties with almost imperceptible, underdeveloped seeds.

Everyone who wants to have a productive vineyard in their area, it makes sense to plant a raisin (seedless seed). We will talk about an interesting variety of this culture later. We learn in more detail what Veles grapes are, a description of which is given in the article below.

Seedless class

In Zaporozhye in 2009, V.V. Zagorulko (people's breeder) bred the seedless form of grapes, called Veles, by crossing varieties Rusbol and Sofia. This year was notable for unusual weather conditions. The mass of rudiments (primordia) of the seeds deviated from the usual upward direction in the plutonous varieties. The larger the mass of rudiments, the higher the culture of the seedless class.

In relation to the definition of this indicator for this variety, studies are still being carried out: according to one result, it belongs to the third class, according to others - to the fourth. The study of the characteristics of this variety is taking place in the south of Belarus.

Plant flowers

Veles grapes, a photo of which are presented in this article, the bushes are vigorous. His vine ripens thoroughly, almost to the full length of the branch. The rooting of the cuttings is fairly easy, with up to four flowers appearing on the first vegetative shoot. In this variety, they are hermaphroditic, or bisexual, containing stamens and pistils. Despite the fact that the flower is well pollinated, additional pollination is also carried out to increase productivity. This contributes to an increase of this indicator by 20 percent.

Berries and Bunches

Veles grapes have very large clusters, branched, medium friable. Their weight reaches 3 kilograms. The clusters have a conical, sometimes cylindrical shape. At the same time, the berries of this variety are also large, their weight reaches 5 grams.

In high humidity conditions, they can rot and crack very much. But in dry weather, they hang on the bush for up to one and a half months, while they do not lose their taste, do not go wild, do not dry out. At the cluster, the crest is very fragile, while the berries hold tight.

Ripening period

The Veles grape variety has an early ripening period. The full ripeness of the berries and the moment of bud blooming on average is shared by 100 days. By growing grapes on the ground, the main crop can be harvested in early August. Moreover, the appearance of stepsons with bunches is characteristic of this variety. By early October, they provide the second wave of the crop.

Frost resistance

In the fruit bud of a vine of grapes of this hybrid, the level of frost resistance is -21 ยฐ C, which is not lower than the indicators of other varieties. At the same time, Veles grapes should be grown in the conditions of sheltering root-own bushes and seedlings, and in winter the method of film tunnels should be used. Vinogradarians say that the main eyes of this culture do not freeze under such conditions.

Disease resistance

To date, the resistance of the Veles variety to various fungal infections remains under study. Resistance to downy mildew - mildew, the main disease of grapes that is grown on open ground, is 3.5 points. The same figure is equal to the indicator of resistance to oidium - another fungal infection that affects the green parts of the plant.

Care and growing

Veles grapes are a vigorous form of culture. To accelerate the ripening of berries, increase the size of the brush and improve the quality of the product, the fruiting vine is cut by 6-8 eyes, sometimes even shorter. Productivity is stable and high. Saplings are usually sold in a grafted or root form.

Benefits

The Velez grape variety has several advantages. Its positive characteristics include frost resistance, which is comparable to the indicators of other popular varieties. This plant undergoes frost without consequences up to -21 ยฐ C, although shelter with a film for the winter will not interfere with the bushes. Excessive moisture during fruiting can adversely affect the crop. There were times when the berries rotted or cracked. The plant requires spring medium pruning up to six eyes. During the fruit ripening period, stepsons are formed in the bushes, which also yield crops, but later - by mid-autumn. In addition, it was established that such grapes are well stored and perfectly tolerates transportation.
