In 2016, the New Wave contest of young artists, as well as in 2015, is planned to be held in Sochi. Before that, it became a tradition to hold it in Jurmala. “New Wave” became a kind of continuation of the competition among young performers of “Jurmala”, held on the shore of the Gulf of Riga until 1990.
Start. The New Wave in 2002-2006
For the first time, this music competition was held only 12 years after the closing of “Jurmala”, namely in 2002, but, nevertheless, after the premiere, it became clear that the “New Wave” would quickly gain popularity among the audience. The first time there were 15 participants. The winners of the “New Wave-2002” are the Smash duo, whose participants at that time were future celebrities and girls' favorites - Vlad Topalov and Sergey Lazarev. The young performer Dima Bilan, who could only take fourth place then, has now become a mega-famous and popular singer. Among the star guests were Toto Kutuno, Philip Kirkorov, diva Alla Pugacheva and many other celebrities.
In 2003, the winner of the New Wave winner was red-haired beauty Anastasia Stotskaya, then Patricia Kaas, Ingrid, Sarah Conor and many Russian stars were guests. In 2004, the Cosmos group won the title of “New Wave” winners, Irina Dubtsova became the owner of the second place.
The co-host of the concerts in 2005 was Alla Pugacheva herself. Then Intars Busulis from Latvia won, Tina Karol rightfully took the second place, and Polina Gagarina was awarded the third place. In 2006, the American performer La Rose won the New Wave contest, Italian Gianni Fiorellino won the second place, and Sofiko from Georgia won the third.
Competition "New Wave". Winners 2007-2009
In 2007, the winner of the first place was Moldavian Natalia Gordienko, Erglis from Latvia and the duet Barcelona from Ukraine shared the second place, Marina from Poland became the owner of the honorable third place.
The winners of the New Wave in 2008 are the duo of Georgia. The second place was given to the Russian judge Iris, and the third went to the Italian Alessandro Ristori. The guests of the competition were not only celebrities of the Russian pop, but also world stars - Robin Gibb, Montserrat Caballe, Joe Cocker.
“New Wave” in 2009 was distinguished by the fact that Ukrainian Jamala and Indonesian Sondoro Sandhy shared the first place. The award from the prima donna - Alla Pugacheva - was received by the Ukrainian Mila Nytych. The second place was awarded to the Italian performer Antonello Carozza, the third was given to the Russian singer Yusim Mark.
Anniversary, tenth "New Wave"
In 2010, the singer from Armenia, Sona Shahgeldyan won the competition, the Ukrainian singer Tatyana Shirko won the well-deserved second place, and the judges decided to give third place to Uku Suviste from Estonia. In 2011, the tenth New Wave contest was held. In honor of him, an extensive festive program was organized. Many events took place both in Jurmala and in Riga. The competition was attended by 16 performers. The talented guy from America Jaden Felder won. The honorable second place rightfully belonged to the Ukrainian Masha Sobko, and the group “N.A.O.M.I.” received the third from Russia.
Winners 2012, 2013, 2014
In 2012, the Russian Nilufar Rasulmukhamedova became the owner of the first place of the “New Wave”, Constanta del Pinto from Italy won the second place, and Maria Yaremchuk from Ukraine won the third place. Then this competition was different from the previous ones in that in 2012, the judges' vote was open only on the first and second day of the competition, on the third day it was closed to maintain intrigue.
In 2013, the judges gave the victory to the Cuban performer Roberto Kel Torres. Georgian Salome Katamadze deservedly came in second place then, and Vietnamese Vin Huat got third place. The star guests were Lara Fabian, the famous singer Alessandro Safina and the popular Toto Cutugno.
In 2014, the victory went to the performer from Georgia, Nutsa Buzaladze, the deserved second place was won by Ukrainian Victoria Petrik, the third - Vyacheslav Rybikov. Famous guests were Ricky Martin, Alessandro Safina and the indispensable Lara Fabian.
New Wave 2015 in Sochi, Russia
In 2015, 15 performers were involved in the competition. Who are they, the winners of the New Wave in Sochi? The title was deservedly won by Damir Kedzo from Croatia, who was in the lead from day one. The second place was shared by the Indonesian Millane Fernandez and Ademi from Kazakhstan, and the third judges were given to the Ukrainian group The Pringlez. The performance of the New Wave winners in 2015 amazed all the guests and spectators of the contest. Unlike previous years, the competition program lasted 10 days. World and Russian celebrities were invited to the "New Wave" in Sochi, including E. Ramazotti, A. Pugacheva, F. Kirkorov, A. Netrebko, Valeria, S. Shnurov and c. "Leningrad", D. Bilan, P. Gagarin, N. Baskov, L. Vaikule, A. Varum, L. Agutin, O. Gazmanov, V. Presnyakov, S. Lazarev, A. Lorak, I. Dubtsova and others.
For the first time that the “New Wave-2015” will be held not in Jurmala, but in Russian Sochi, people heard from the lips of the governor of the Krasnodar Territory. Later, the information was confirmed by Igor Krutoy. This happened due to the ban on entry to Latvia by Russian stars: Valeria, Oleg Gazmanov and Joseph Kobzon. Crimea, as well as the Russian cities of Kaliningrad, Kazan and others, were ready for the competition.
