What could be worse than lies, betrayals of deceit? Most likely nothing. But is the lie so disgusting as it seems at first glance? Should I try to get rid of the deception by one hundred percent? Why do people lie?
When a person has committed some bad act or blundered, he naturally wants to hide it - and begins to lie. When this is an isolated case, when it is simply necessary to hide the truth, then it is still excusable. But for some people, throwing dust in their eyes is already tantamount to a drug. As stated in one aphorism about the lie: "Deception is the seed of the devil." Such people, one might say, sign an agreement with Satan - they sell their soul to him. After all, lying is an art that can bring many benefits to scoundrels and villains. What adventures can be cranked up, perfectly mastering the ability to deceive ?! Without a doubt, everyone saw crime films on such a topic or read similar books: about the Italian mafia, which are driven only by a sense of profit and nothing more; about gangs of professional bandits and thieves, etc.
But those readers who, one way or another, cannot call themselves ardent atheists, know what this “slippery” life threatens with. Such people, who have committed many deadly sins throughout their existence, will be doomed to "practice" in the underworld.
Lies in everyday life
The above is a deception in the most perverted form. Nevertheless, it cannot be said that lying in everyday life is a child’s harmless game. This is also not welcome.
Ordinary average people can use lies, theoretically, anywhere. It may be cheating on husband / wife; distortion of the truth at work for the coveted position; lying during conversations with friends and acquaintances in order to show their best side. Examples can come up with a lot. Modern society has gotten used to it over the years. Now this can be seen quite often. All a little, but they can lie. This, of course, can happen involuntarily. This has turned into a bad habit along with smoking and drinking alcohol.
One aphorism about a lie calls: “The main thing - do not lie to yourself” (F. M. Dostoevsky). But there are problems with this. Surprisingly, it can be difficult to be honest even with oneself: when a person consoles himself, praises himself, and understands those around him in his head, criticizes, etc.
What to choose: deception or truth?

For example, it is better for a small child not to know some problems in adult life (not enough money, fired from work, etc.), even if he asks about it; government bodies should not disclose to the people all the problems that exist at the moment, otherwise it will cause panic among people ...
Therefore, one cannot agree that a lie is always harmful. Sometimes it is necessary, just a balance must be struck between deception and truth: not to abuse both the first and second.
Paradoxes of the Liar
The liar paradox is a chain of sequential reasoning, which ultimately returns to the very beginning of the question.
In the course of history, several such paradoxes appeared that make the brain boil with bewilderment: why can not this vicious circle be broken?
1. Let's start with the Pinocchio paradox. The essence of this paradox is as follows: a wooden boy says the phrase: "Now my nose is lengthening." If the nose does not grow, then he lied, and the nose will have to grow. But if the nose grows, then he told the truth. In that case, why did the nose grow? This paradox makes the brain literally explode.
2. The second paradox will be more understandable. This is the paradox of Plato and Socrates.
Plato says: "Socrates' next statement will be false."
Socrates: "What Plato said is true."
Let's say Plato is telling the truth. So Socrates really lied. And if Socrates lied, then the statement of Plato is not true. Then Plato still lied.
Also the other way around. Plato is lying, which means that Socrates’s statement will not be false - "what Plato said is true." Then Plato still does not lie.
3. There is another vicious circle - the Epimenides paradox.
The Cretan Epimenides claimed that all Cretans are liars.
Suppose the words of Epimenides are true. Then all the Cretans are liars. But, given that Epimenides himself was a Cretan, then he is also a liar. Accordingly, Epimenides could not tell the truth.
