The importance of road signs is hard to overestimate. It is not difficult to imagine what will happen if you do not streamline the rules and regulations for the movement of all participants on the road. Everyone needs to know their values: pedestrians and drivers, cyclists and bikers. This will allow participants in the movement to choose the safest and most comfortable mode of movement and, possibly, save lives in some cases.
Set road signs
The rules of the road were written in blood, and ignoring them, violation is a vivid example of irresponsibility, and in some cases even a crime.
The rules for installing road signs according to GOST are divided into 7 groups:

The presence of trees, shrubs, buildings and communications are also taken into account, since nothing should prevent you from seeing important information. It should be noted that the arrangement of roads with road signs in settlements is the same in most cases, namely at a distance of 50-100 meters to a dangerous section of the road. Special services operate in this way, taking into account that the speed of vehicles moving along the suburban highway is higher than in the village.
General rules for the placement of road signs
For the number and types of installed road signs, taking into account the territorial location of the road, the leadership of the road organization serving this section of the road is responsible. It should be noted that all signs are strictly according to the installation of road signs defined by the standard in order to avoid confusion, which is possible in the case of inexperienced or novice motorists.

As mentioned above, the leadership of the road organization independently determines the location and number of road signs, based on the emergency situation of the site and the terrain. On roads and suburban highways, signs are usually placed on the carriageway, but if these are mountain roads, then the location is outside the curb. There are separate rules for the location and installation of road signs: for example, the distance from the canvas to it is regulated in the range from 0.5 meters to 2 meters.

If the roadway is not equipped with stationary lighting, signs with autonomous lighting or a reflective surface are used. It is noteworthy that the duties of road workers include periodically checking the suitability of signs by fixing them from different distances on moving cars, and checking test data with recommended parameters.

If an accident due to poor visibility occurred in this section of the roadway, in practice it is extremely difficult to bring the negligent road organization to justice.

Each road sign has such a characteristic as a coverage area, which can be extended or shortened according to the rules and instructions. The area of the sign is regulated by means of appropriate plates in the direction of decrease and by repeating after each intersection in the direction of increase.
If it is difficult to determine the duration of a dangerous section of the roadway independently, then the road services decide to install a sign warning of danger and prohibiting certain types of actions in this territory.
According to the instructions, installation, dismantling of road signs, marking of the roadway and road maintenance are carried out by the road organization, to which this section of the roadway is assigned. But if you need a sign to install at the time of construction of the object, for example, then in this situation, the road organization is powerless to do anything.
Bad character
Traffic police officers test and monitor the serviceability and information content of the installed signs, that is, they monitor their technical condition. The installation of road signs in settlements is carried out in accordance with and in strict observance of the traffic pattern, and, of course, its plan is coordinated at different levels of leadership and responsible departments.
It is no coincidence that this question is now raised. Often you have to deal with the arbitrary independent installation of prohibitory traffic signs without any approval and approval by the relevant authorities. It is clear that such actions restricting the rights and freedoms of citizens are unlawful.

It happens that the residents of houses can put the sign "Entry is forbidden", although even outwardly it, as a rule, may differ from the standard that is defined in the rules for installing road signs in accordance with GOST. The only correct action in such a situation is to pay attention to this flagrant fact of the road inspection, and those, in turn, must take a number of measures: visit the area with an unauthorized sign, remove it and find the perpetrators.
