It is very important for any summer resident or owner of a personal plot to know the super early varieties of potatoes, the most productive, and, of course, those that can lie all winter. To date, there are about four thousand all kinds of potato varieties, of which only 290 are approved for use in food in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Potato varieties differ among themselves not only in color, taste, shape of tubers, but also, of course, in terms of ripening. When planting potatoes , a huge number of conditions must be taken into account:

  • firstly, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of the region in which you are going to plant the plant;
  • secondly, the ripening period (early potato varieties reach full ripening within 70-75 days, mid-ripening - about 90 days, late - more than 120 days);
  • thirdly, it is necessary to take into account the purpose for which potatoes are planted (processing into chips, dry potatoes, obtaining starch, for sale, etc.). For sale, the most optimal will be productive varieties of potatoes, such as: Lorch, Berlichingen, Hybrid-14 and others.

Unfortunately, potatoes brought from Israel, Egypt, Poland, Morocco, and Cyprus are increasingly found on the shelves of Russian stores. This is due, first of all, to the fact that on the greater territory of our state there are very long and cold winters and a very short warm period. The only way scientists have found is to use early potato varieties when planting.

But early-ripening varieties are suitable for eating only in the summer and autumn period of time and are completely not amenable to storage. At first, the tubers of the plant are elastic, juicy and loose, after prolonged storage, most of them rot and become completely unsuitable for consumption in the human diet.

Varms, Vyatka, Belorussian early, Priekulsky early, Spark, Domodedovo - the early varieties of potatoes that are most popular among the inhabitants of Russia.

Vyatka is a variety that is characterized by high yield and good resistance to diseases (late blight, viral diseases, scab, etc.). The tubers are very elastic, large, oval in shape. After direct digging, the tubers are stored for 3-4 months.

Warms is a type of early ripe potato. Elongated tubers with a whitish peel. When cooking, it does not boil, so it is more suitable for cooking salads.

Domodedovo - a variety belonging to an early ripe variety. Great taste, high yield - these are the advantages of this potato. An elongated tuber, not very large, with practically invisible eyes. Potatoes are relatively rarely the victim of viral infections or bacterial diseases.

Priekulsky early - a variety of potatoes, which has a decent yield and is characterized by rapid ripening. Appearance is discreet, flesh of a white shade, very juicy. When cut, the potatoes are not covered with black spots.

In order for the early varieties of potatoes to produce a large crop, it is necessary to observe some rules for its cultivation.

  • Firstly, early potatoes need to be watered at the rate of 10 liters of water for three planted bushes. Moisturize the soil as necessary, but not less than 1 time per week.
  • Secondly, potatoes give a good crop in cases where mulching is used. This procedure is similar to creating a greenhouse. After planting potatoes in the ground, the entire plot is covered with mulching material. Moisture from the earth practically does not evaporate, weeds do not germinate, and the earth is not covered with a crust.
  • Thirdly, early varieties of potatoes are very fond of friable and loose soil, so be prepared for this test.
