If you decide to fix skirting boards, then you should familiarize yourself with the basic technologies, one of which will certainly suit you.
Bonding the skirting board
Installation of plastic skirting boards can be done with glue. This method is the most common, and you can use different types of compositions in the process, including liquid nails. The advantage of this technique is the absence of the need for drilling. As a result, dust will not form, and the work will not seem dirty. Do not rush to glue the baseboard, at the first stage you need to verify everything, and then install the elements without glue. After all the components are fitted, as well as tried on, the elements can be installed in their place. The disadvantage of this method is the one-time use of the plinth, its repeated use will be impossible, and dismantling will worsen its appearance. Among other things, there is a need for certain skills in working with glue.
Features of work with glue
Some compounds completely exclude the possibility of the mixture getting onto the surface of the finishing materials, as this can completely ruin them. Installation of the plastic baseboard on the adhesive is carried out after the mixture is distributed on the back surface of the products, then the element must be leaned against the surface and pressed. Some types of adhesives require holding the fillet near the surface for several minutes, if this option is not suitable for you, then you should choose a composition that provides instant bonding.
Using screws
This fastening technology is inferior in decorativeness, but increases reliability. You will need to perform the following algorithm. Holes are drilled through the baseboard, the distance between which can vary from 40 to 50 cm. In the holes, you need to make recesses in the form of a cone using a drill. With this approach, you can imperceptibly drown the caps of fasteners. At the next stage, you can install the baseboard, starting work from the corner. Elements should be pressed firmly against the wall, and through the holes you can put marks using a pencil. In the marked places, the master drills holes and installs dowels, then you can attach a piece of the plinth to the wall surface and install fasteners.

Using special hardware
If you faced the need to install a floor plinth, then as an alternative, you can use special fasteners. This technology has many advantages, but does not exclude the disadvantages. The advantages include easy dismantling if necessary, as well as simple re-installation, in which there are no traces of fasteners on the front surface of the fillets. But the minus is the increased requirements for the evenness of the floor and walls, this significantly narrows the area of use of fasteners, which is especially true for the secondary housing market. Among other things, reassembling, although possible, is not always easy to implement, since the fastener system is weakening, and it becomes very difficult to achieve the initial fit. If the installation of plastic skirting boards with your own hands will be carried out by you using special fasteners, then at the first stage it is necessary to mark the mounting points, and then drill holes whose depth should not be more than three centimeters.

When installing the connecting elements, it is best to use glue or silicone, since the insert can pop out upon impact if it is accidentally caught by an object, this is especially true for outer corners.

After the installation is completed, the joints are smeared with a sealant of the corresponding color. Fillets can be hemmed from the bottom to the UD profile that surrounds the room. It is important to consider the presence of external and internal corners, connectors and plugs. Most often, a plastic floor skirting board is installed so that the mount is in the wall, not in the floor. When installing, you can use liquid nails, dowels, plugs or screws. If the wall is made of drywall, it is best to use self-tapping screws with corks or glue. In the latter case, you should be careful, because if there is a gap between the wall and the baseboard, it will be very difficult to remove it.
If there is concrete or brick at the base of the wall, dowel plugs will be the best option for fastening. The holes for them are drilled at a distance of 30 cm from each other. It will be more convenient to use a hammer drill with a shock function to save time. Installation of a plastic skirting board should start from the corner, but solid profiles should be installed in the most visible part of the room. After the baseboard is pressed to the surface, make sure that there is no gap between the floor and the fillet. Through the plastic baseboard in the next step, you will need to make holes, and the formed dust must be removed with a vacuum cleaner. The next step will be the installation of plastic plugs into which screws are screwed.
