Museum of water. We invite you on a trip.

Water Museum ... It seems to me that if you, like me, consider yourself an avid and experienced traveler, then of course you have heard of such museums more than once.

What is this special place? What can be so unusual in a seemingly banal water, so that only for it it is necessary to build a whole museum? I’m just going to talk about this in my article.

In general, such places are created for two purposes:

  1. Introduce their visitors in detail to the water and sewage system of the city, country and even the world.
  2. When trying to draw attention to the problems of pollution and saving of water resources of our planet.

If you look into the water museum, its staff and experienced guides will be happy to tell you about interesting facts related to each exhibit. Of course, such premises are in most cases built in order to demonstrate the history and process of the development of sewage and water supply. But besides this, you can also get acquainted with materials containing unique, and sometimes completely invaluable information related to the moments of the creation of the water supply system. Having visited one of these expositions, you will have the opportunity to follow all the main stages of the development of the water supply process, as well as learn about upcoming world projects of the future.

Today in Europe there are 18 such exhibitions. As a rule, they are organized at large municipal enterprises, which are engaged in the water supply of a particular region.

I'll tell you about several such places.

Capital of Ukraine. Kiev.

A few years ago I visited the Water Museum in Kiev. An amazing place that is sure to appeal to both adults and children. Here you can climb up and take a picture on a large toilet, listen to the rumble of tropical rain, standing inside an artificially created cave, stroke a hand of huge fish, each of which has its own name, build a sand castle using a children's spatula and visit inside a giant soap bubble!

New York, USA).

One of the most ambitious museums in the world is located on the Atlantic coast of the United States of America. The Museum of Water in New York is the first and only public exhibition complex of the city, which is dedicated exclusively to water and the problems of water reserves of our planet. Here is a large collection of water-related exhibits. In every corner of the building you can discover something new. For example, visit the world's only exhibition of crystals that are able to change shape in front of visitors. Have you ever seen a computer made entirely of water? The Museum of New York will offer you to design your own! Thrill-seekers will be able to try themselves in the role of a virtual surfer, fighting with huge ocean waves. Be sure to first-hand look at all those modifications that water undergoes, making a complete cycle.

St. Petersburg Museum of Water.

St. Petersburg also boasts of having such an amazing place. The museum complex "World of Water of St. Petersburg" is the youngest and most modern in the city on the Neva. By signing up for a tour in advance, you can immerse yourself in the history of the main water supply station of the Northern capital for as long as 40 minutes. At the moment, the museum has three expositions: historical, multimedia and exhibition hall.

Of particular interest, of course, is the multimedia complex. For eleven minutes, visitors find themselves in a magical world that talks about the importance of water in a human environment. At first, the Neva will flow into which small rivulets will flow on both sides, and on the virtual shores one can see the outlines of the Northern capital. A little later you will be transported inside the grid of water and sewer pipes of the metropolis. And finally, get ready to visit the virtual basement of an average residential building, find out where the water actually comes from our sewer pipes, and the highlight of this β€œtrip” will be a visit to the so-called stalactite cave, inhabited by bats and ghosts.

As you can see, in any country, a trip to the water museum resembles an immersion in the mysterious world of the unknown and mysterious. If you ever get the chance to visit one of these places, it seems to me that such a chance can not be taken.
