Part of St. Petersburg - Ladozhskaya metro

The main requirement today for any type of public transport is to provide comfort and convenience for passengers. The modern station complex "Ladoga", which includes the Ladoga metro, is one hundred percent compliant with these strict requirements.

Ladoga metro station
The famous St. Petersburg metro station was opened at the very end of 1985, namely on December 30. It is located in the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg between the metro stations "Prospect Bolshevikov" - "Novocherkasskaya". The design name of the Ladozhskaya metro station was Novoladozhskaya.

It was planned that it would be the first stage of the station, which was then developed by designers. According to the project, the Ladoga metro pavilion was to be located in the central part of the station, between passenger tunnels leading to railway platforms. But, unfortunately, the original project was never implemented. For almost two decades, the Ladoga station was built , while the metro was built much faster. Despite the fact that the station appeared earlier, it fits perfectly into the general architectural appearance of the modern station, which was built only in 2003, and is already an integral part of it.

Many residents of St. Petersburg believe that the Ladozhskaya metro station is directly related to the famous "Road of Life", which passed along the frozen lake of the same name in the severe blockade years of Leningrad. However, in fact, the "Road of Life" was located in the area of the modern highway of the Revolution in the direction of Lake Ladoga. And from the Ladoga station, trains departed for stations that were associated with the legendary route.

The design of Ladoga emphasizes the theme of the “Road of Life” - the only thread connecting the inhabitants of Leningrad with the outside world during the blockade. The lower part of the track walls, as well as the ends of the station are lined with gray-blue Ufalei marble, reminiscent of the ice of Lake Ladoga . A dark gray granite frieze with the name of the station crowns the upper part of the track walls. Floor lamps made of white marble, arranged in two rows along the platform, as if symbolize the way posts.

Until 2006, the station was illuminated by mercury discharge lamps that gave white light that did not distort the color of the facing marble. Then these lamps were replaced by sodium. And although the lighting became brighter, the appearance of the station did not change for the better because of the yellow light that turned the gray-blue shades of granite into dirty yellow.

At the end of the station, it was planned to build a marble composition called “Ladoga ice hummocks”, but this project was not realized until the end. Now the end wall is made of white marble, there is an inscription on it in memory of the terrible siege years - “1941 ROAD OF LIFE 1944”.

61 meters - at such a depth is the metro Ladozhskaya. The station was designed by architect V.N. Esinovsky and engineer G.F. Proshina. The rise to the apron hall on the escalator lasts 2 minutes 20 seconds. The station’s ground lobby is located at the very end of Zanevsky Prospekt in the immediate vicinity of the Ladoga Station, Bolshaya Yablonovka and Karl Faberge Square .
