Most people born under the Soviet Union have a negative attitude towards such a subculture as punks. And now, far from all young people are familiar with this concept. Many citizens think that this is just a group of people in strange clothes and with colored hair, but what they are, why they all do this, is not clear. There is no definite definition of who punk is, as there is no definition of any subculture.
It is known that this trend originated in the 70s of the last century in Great Britain and the USA. The main reason for the appearance of punks was the rock protest of the format in which it was at that time. That is, the genre arose in the musical environment, and then spread to other
forms of culture. In fact,
who is punk? This is a person who protests against everything that he does not like or does not fall within the scope of his concept.
On the basis of addiction to such a musical direction as punk rock, a subculture appeared. Punks cannot listen to any other music; they do not accept the political structure and culture in the concept that others represent it. It is generally accepted that these people are real egoists, they care only about themselves and do not pay attention to the feelings of others. This is a wrong opinion, because punks care about those who are close in spirit, support their opinion.
Today this trend is very popular among young people who want to stand out from the crowd, to show their uniqueness. Representatives of the subculture accept only their music, so almost every country has its own punk bands. It’s difficult for Russia to understand this movement, but there are still musicians working in this style.
Answering the question of who punk is, the idea immediately comes of tattoos, dyed hair, protruding hairstyles, jewelry, cosmetics and unusual clothes with leather straps. But do not think that for these people the outfit comes first. Real punks are very smart, they know how to think and express their civic position. Another thing is that among the representatives of this trend there are many who absolutely do not understand its essence. Many of them just dress up, behave rudely, get involved in fights, drink and use drugs, thereby distorting the concept of who punk is.
In punk music, there are several subgenres.
This is punk rock, pop punk, skate punk. The latter appeared in the United States in the 80s of the twentieth century, and reached its peak in the 90s. This subculture mainly causes negative associations, and its representatives radiate negativity and protest against the whole world, but skate punk stands out for its cheerfulness and optimism. Many songs are very funny and humorous.
In concluding, we can say that there is nothing wrong with punk culture. These people boldly express their opinion, not being afraid of the reaction of others, and have every right to do so. But the problem is that young people do not understand the essence of the subculture and pursue only a wrapper: colorful hairstyles, unusual make-up. Punk is, first of all, a way of life, and such a movement as skate punk also involves the rejection of drugs and alcohol. Many representatives of the subculture lead a healthy lifestyle, so do not be biased towards painted young people, they only express their position and have every right to do so.
