This is one of the central characters in the literary cycle "Gleams of Eterna" by Vera Kamsha. He appears already closer to the second half of the Aldo Racan rebellion, therefore, towards the end of the narrative as such, the hero plays a rather serious role in the course of the plot. For the first time, the reader sees Rotger Valdez when he encounters details of the conflict between Talig and the sailors Driksen, affectionately nicknamed the "geese." Currently holds the position of vice admiral and dashing captain of his own high-speed vessel. He acts as a vassal of the heir to the Wind, Germont Arrigo, the birth colors are silver and black.
The first appearance of the character and the place in the story
Before the events described in the Winter Break, little was known about Rotger Valdez. He is casually mentioned as a talented naval commander and confidant of Neumarinen, the Duke of the North, but still the character was fully revealed only in the volume described above. There he appears as an allusion to the Roque Alva, as he is also the heir to the blood of Marikyar and a vassal of the Wind. He is familiar with Marshal Talig and more than once boasted that he would gladly meet Alva in the lists as an opponent in the tournament. During a conflict with warriors, Driksen occupies one of the central positions of the plan for the defense of the coastline, easily goes boarding, impulsive and impudent.
Appearance
Rotger Valdes is often called the "Sunset creature." Like the image mentioned, he has a beautiful dark hair and black eyes to match the hair. In his appearance, it is easy to notice the features of people from Marikyare, namely sharp cheekbones, sensual lips, athletic physique of the dancer. Vice Admiral, nicknamed Mad, loves loose-fitting clothing that does not restrict movement and is great for combat. Of flowers, he prefers silver and black, somewhat reminiscent of Alva. But if the duke is more refined, then in the appearance of Rotger Valdez there can be traced pressure and even some rudeness.
Temperament and habits
The character of Rotger Valdes is a dashing sea pirate, Zorro, if you will. He is charismatic, noble, cruel to enemies and unique in love games. At least this is what seems to be at first glance. However, it is very superficial. In fact, Rotger Valdez is a man of honor who is ready to die for Talig and his principles. Like many military men, he is fanatically devoted to power and Roque. In battle, the true temperament of the Vice Admiral is manifested. He was nicknamed rabid not for his temper, but for the manner of battle, which is completely opposed to the prudent movements of the Bergers.
Rotger Valdes is inclined to captivate young ladies, because he has an impressive appearance and sharp tongue. In the battle he prefers to be the first, he is dearly loved by his team, because they see him as a mentor and friend at the same time. He has close ties with Marshal Talig, with whom at one time he sailed under the sail of the Kamorists, as well as Ramon Almeida. Presumably, he (as a vassal of the Wind) is patronized by ketshen, the spirits of the elements, which Rotger Valdes calls "girls".
Biography and brief extracts from the position of the image in books
It is known that Rotger Valdez was born in the 360 year of the circle of Rocks. That is, at the time of the story, he is 38 years old, although outwardly he looks much younger. As a child, he lived with his father on the island of Marikjare, where he forever fell in love with the sea and the fresh breeze. At 16, he studied at the capital's military academy Laik. The history of Rotger Valdes's acquaintance with Roque is unknown, although it is believed to have occurred immediately after training. The fame of the exploits of these characters thunders after 15-18 years. The name of Valdez's father, like his mother, is unknown. The books only mention that he could not get past the “blond braids” of the vice admiral’s mother, who was from the Berger people.
Belief and influence on the plot
Rotger Valdez does not belong to the followers of Allarianism. Rather, it can be called an "Old Believer." Since the Vice Admiral personally saw the spirits of the Wind, one of the four original forces in Eterna's Gleams. Presumably, like Roque, he knows the sacred meaning of the “sword of the Wind” and other attributes of Curtiana. At the time of the events of the second volume of the Blue View of Death, the character is fully aware of the events in Nador and knows or guesses about the real personality of Roque. It may well belong to the "old nobility", closely associated with magic.
"Gleams of Eterna" is a unique literary cycle permeated by living heroes and interesting events. Many of them are truly memorable. Rothger Valdes can also be included in this category. The frantic vice admiral, in complete contrast to Talig’s new nobility, is a “knight with a sword” who will protect his people to the last and, smiling, will meet death with a gun in his hand. It is thanks to these characters that the reader loves the work of Vera Kamsha. As for the future hero, the fans expect that it will be cloudless.
