What should be the cages for decorative rabbits?

Choosing a cage for decorative rabbits is not so simple. Not every home will suit your pet.

The first thing you should pay attention to when buying a cage for decorative rabbits is the quality factor and quality. All materials must be strong enough. Keep in mind that the animal will definitely try all the rods on the tooth, check the bottom for strength and, possibly, organize the toilet in the place where it is not provided. Therefore, the grill should be metal (not painted at all!), The bottom should be retractable, preferably plastic. This will facilitate cell cleaning. Do not buy completely plastic enclosed dwellings (akin to an aquarium). On the one hand, they are relatively safe, because the animal is extremely uncomfortable to bite the walls, on the other hand, there is no air circulation, which will negatively affect the state of the rabbit. Heat and stuffiness are dangerous to the life of these animals.

Cages for decorative rabbits (photo below) should be quite spacious, at least four times larger than an adult animal. When looking for housing for your pet, keep in mind that the placed trays, drinking bowls and feeders will occupy additional space, reducing the living area. Remember that the animal must move freely and be able to lie fully stretched.

An ordinary cell looks something like this:

Cage for a decorative rabbit price

A cage for a decorative rabbit (price in stores - from 35 cu) should include:

- a drinking bowl (best of all - automatic, for example, a ball);

- feeding trough (stable, heavy, ideally ceramic);

- a nursery (especially for hay);

- house;

- tray.

In most automatic drinking bowls, tubes with balls at the end are built-in, when you touch them, water begins to drip. Rabbits very quickly learn the basics of such a watering hole. The advantage of such drinking bowls is not only in saving, but also in maintaining cleanliness: animals often pour water poured into ordinary containers, here the cage will always be dry.

Feeders can be of two types - floor and hanging. Both types are quite comfortable, small in size, wash well. However, it should be noted that rabbits are active rodents, therefore, the materials from which the feeders are made must be natural. In addition, swallowed pieces of plastic can cause intestinal injury.

Ideal nurseries are made of metal (trellised or mesh) and are located outside the cage. For decorative rabbits, it is not difficult to get food from a similar design, and saving space will be significant.

It is important to understand that you cannot do without a manger, as hay, laid simply on the floor of the cage, will quickly deteriorate, and the animal may be poisoned.

The house, in which rabbits with pleasure retire, is made only of wood (conifers are not suitable). The finished product must not be painted.

The height of the tray is not lower than 10 cm (ideally 15 cm). At the bottom, either shavings or sawdust are poured. Do not use cat fillers (other than wood), as rabbits tend to eat pellets.
