About breeds with a flattened face

More than one millennium has passed since cats became pets. During this time, hundreds of different breeds, radically different from each other, were bred. Here are fluffy Persian cats with a flattened face, and completely hairless and with huge ears sphinxes, and Maine Coon giants cats, whose weight can reach ten kilograms, and little Scythian taydona, whose weight rarely exceeds two kilograms. Yes, the variety of all varieties of feline cats is impressive. But it is unlikely that any breed can cause more tenderness than one in which the cat's face is slightly flattened. And if you also add to this big and, preferably, sad eyes, then hardly anyone can pass by indifferently.

Breeds of cats with a flattened muzzle

Flat-faced cats
By and large, there are not so many breeds of cats with a flattened muzzle, but fingers are enough to list them. So:

  • The Persian cat is perhaps the most famous and popular breed. Amateurs, stating the fact that the cat's face is flattened, immediately call it the owner of the Persian and I must say that there is some truth in this. After all, this breed is considered the ancestor of most cats with this feature.
  • Exot - this breed of cats is somewhat reminiscent of the Persian, but a little smaller, its hair is also somewhat shorter and the expression of the muzzle is a little kinder. Due to the shorter length of the hair, it is easier to care for exotics than for Persian cats.
  • Himalayan cat - This breed is a mixture of a Persian cat and a Siamese. Her color is similar to the Siamese one, and the length of the coat, the flattened face of the cat, the blue color of the eyes turned out like in Persian.
  • Scottish Fold and British Shorthair. These two breeds have a muzzle rather slightly flattened rather than flat. Their fur is not long and very soft, thick, which makes them look like a plush toy. The main difference between these breeds is in the different shape of the ears. In the Scottish breed, they are bent to the head, for which it was called "fold". But British cats have ears of the usual form.
  • Also included in this variety is a wild cat with a large snout, flattened, as in the previously mentioned breeds - manul. Only a manula is unlikely to be accustomed to life in a city apartment.

Positive and negative aspects of keeping and grooming flat-faced cats

Cat face
The advantages of cats with a flat face include their appearance. Of course, everything is not so clear here, because if someone flattened face of a cat seems very cute, then to another, on the contrary, such an expression will seem unkind or even evil. Be that as it may, these breeds of admirers are more than enough. The disadvantages include rather complicated care, since most of these breeds are long-haired. Still such cats snore in a dream and grunt while eating.

Briefly in conclusion

Cat with a big face
Be that as it may, cats with a flattened face are very popular among amateurs, a large number of exhibitions are held all over the world at which cats of these breeds take prizes. And it’s not about the prizes, just these cats are very cute, affectionate and completely non-aggressive. They tolerate children and create a warm and comfortable atmosphere in the apartment.
